Spring arrives with new joys.

Along the sun-drenched, windswept borderlands of Lam Dong province, a special spring is arriving. This spring not only brings the fragrance and beauty of the mountains, but also the happiness of the local people as they begin construction on their new homes...

On February 6th, General Nguyen Trong Nghia, member of the Politburo , Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, and Head of the General Political Department of the Vietnam People's Army, led a delegation to Quang Truc commune to attend the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of 60 houses in a residential area adjacent to a border militia outpost.

Amidst the throngs of people filling the ceremonial courtyard, we saw the tears of Ms. Thi Loan (from Bu Nung village). Her love story with Mr. Nguyen Van Muc – a construction worker who went to the border to build roads and then decided to stay and build his life – is like a harmonious blend of the lowlands and the vast Tây Nguyên highlands.

However, poverty clung relentlessly to the family of six in their dilapidated wooden house, forcing their two older children to drop out of school. Every day, the couple worked as laborers on coffee plantations, their income precarious.

"After decades of working as a hired hand, I never dared to dream of owning a new house. Having a home means a stable livelihood, and my children will have a better future," said Ms. Loan.

Sharing the same emotion at receiving financial support to build a house, Mrs. Thi Srơu (64 years old, a poor household in the commune) had tears in her eyes. Today, to prepare for meeting the delegation, she had prepared her most beautiful brocade dress. Although not fluent in Vietnamese, she repeatedly expressed her gratitude when visited and encouraged.

General Nguyen Trong Nghia shared with the people of Quang Truc commune: "We came here on a very beautiful road, and seeing the peaceful lives of the people, my heart is filled with joy."

General Nguyen Trong Nghia shared that the country is entering a spring filled with radiant joy. While every spring is radiant, this one is particularly special, bringing with it "very new" joys. These are the important results of the "revolution" in reorganizing the administrative apparatus and implementing the two-tiered local government model; and the momentum following the success of the 14th National Congress of the Party – a congress that opened up a vision and aspiration for strong national development.

Coinciding with the preparations for the Lunar New Year, the entire country is also celebrating the 96th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam and entering the process of preparing for the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and deputies to People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term.

"This is a time when the entire political system must work together in unity. To do well, the core remains the spirit of great solidarity; we must awaken patriotism, the will for self-reliance, self-strength, and self-improvement; and inspire confidence and pride to confidently move forward into the new era," General Nguyen Trong Nghia emphasized.

Holding hands with the people who year-round stay on the border alongside the army to safeguard national sovereignty , General Nguyen Trong Nghia shared that, despite the busy workload, the Politburo and the Secretariat still assign Party and State leaders to visit, extend New Year greetings, and give gifts to the people; especially focusing on remote areas, border regions, islands, policy beneficiary families, meritorious individuals, poor households, and vulnerable groups.

General Nguyen Trong Nghia expressed: "I hope that the people will have more motivation to overcome poverty and rise to a comfortable level; from comfortable to rich; and if already rich, to become even richer, to become genuinely rich in order to contribute to the development of the locality and the country."

On February 6th, in Duc Lap commune, Lam Dong province, the Command of Military Region 7, in coordination with Lam Dong province, organized the opening ceremony of the 11th "Spring for Soldiers" program - 2026.

Within the framework of the program, the Organizing Committee implemented many practical activities, such as celebrating Tet (Lunar New Year) with soldiers, organizing free medical examinations and providing free medicine, and giving gifts to more than 650 people in border areas; the "Zero-Cost Spring Market - Spreading Love" with 11 stalls and more than 1,000 gifts; the commencement of construction of 60 houses (each worth 100 million VND) in the border commune of Quang Truc; the inauguration and handover of 10 houses of gratitude between the military and civilians and the donation of a cultural and sports complex worth 1.3 billion VND; the Organizing Committee donated more than 2,500 gifts, totaling nearly 5 billion VND, to policy beneficiary families, families in difficult circumstances, and officers and soldiers in border areas.
