The meaning of "The Reunification Train"

(Baothanhhoa.vn) - On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Southern Vietnam and the reunification of the country (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), Vietnam Railways Corporation organized a train fleet named "Reunification Train" with a unique design that carries many special meanings, while also reflecting the spirit of innovation and creativity of the Vietnamese railway industry.

Train SE1, named "The Reunification Train," departed from Hanoi Station at 8:55 PM on April 29th and passed through Thanh Hoa Station at 12:12 AM on April 30th.

The train's mission is to transport passengers from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City and from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi, with the most favorable ticket policy for those who have rendered meritorious service to the country, such as wounded soldiers, sick soldiers, veterans, and relatives of those who have contributed to the revolution.

Police officers and numerous officials from Thanh Hoa Railway Station awaited the arrival of Train SE1, also known as the "Reunification Train".

On the evening of April 29th, train SE1 departed from Hanoi station at 8:55 PM and passed through Thanh Hoa station at 12:12 AM on April 30th.

Train SE4 departs from Saigon Station at 7 PM on April 29th and is expected to arrive at Thanh Hoa Station at 1:59 AM on May 1st.

At exactly 12:40 PM on April 30th, the two trains will meet at Da Nang Station.

Throughout the journey, all railway staff on board and at the stations serving the Reunification Express train wear uniforms with the red flag and yellow star emblem. The train will play revolutionary songs, songs of victory, and songs of national pride to entertain passengers.

In addition, passengers on the two Thong Nhat trains will be able to "travel back" to the past through historical images of the railway industry, including images of the Thong Nhat train in 1975, displayed in the exhibition area on the train.
