Following an investigation and verification process regarding the allegations of plagiarism in a doctoral dissertation by an official from the Hue Ancient Citadel Conservation Center, Hue University issued its conclusion on the matter on the afternoon of November 22nd.

According to the conclusion, Hue University determined that the author of the doctoral dissertation "History of Vietnam: The Formation, Development and Transformation of Royal Court Festivals in Hue from 1802 to 1945" is Ms. LTAH, Head of the Scientific Research Department of the Hue Ancient Citadel Relics Conservation Center, who committed plagiarism.

Hue University has determined that Ms. LTAH's doctoral dissertation contains plagiarism.

Specifically, plagiarism was found in 12 pages of Ms. H.'s doctoral dissertation, with numerous passages and ideas using text similar to published works by other authors without proper citation. Hue University also pointed out several errors regarding the misuse of source materials in this doctoral dissertation.

Given the aforementioned irregularities, Hue University will recommend that the thesis author revise the content identified in the conclusion of the complaint investigation and submit it for archiving in accordance with current regulations.

Specifically, the University of Science, Hue University, is the unit directly coordinating with the Training and Student Affairs Department of Hue University to monitor and verify the revisions to Ms. H.'s dissertation in accordance with the inspection findings.

Regarding the resolution of Ms. H.'s doctoral dissertation content, the leadership of Hue University stated that they will propose to the Ministry of Education and Training to establish an evaluation council to handle the matter according to its authority.

As Thanh Nien newspaper reported, in July 2024, the doctoral thesis "History of Vietnam: The Formation, Development and Transformation of Royal Court Festivals in Hue from 1802 to 1945" by Ms. LTAH (defended at the Doctoral Thesis Defense Council of Hue University on March 23, 2018) was accused of plagiarism.

Accordingly, some content in the dissertation coincides with the content of a specialized science and technology newspaper in Son La , published on March 26, 2018, about the current state of festival activities in our country, and the research topic "Hue Royal Court Festivals and the issue of preservation and promotion of values to serve the people and develop Hue tourism" by a PhD published in 2011. In addition, the doctoral dissertation is also accused of having more than 20 errors in peer review and inaccurate historical information.

After receiving the information, Hue University launched an investigation and verification process. The Director of Hue University instructed the formation of a team to verify the content related to two issues: plagiarism and misuse of historical sources in the doctoral dissertation.
