YouTube crashes globally

The video sharing platform suddenly encountered a widespread error, leaving users around the world unable to access it.

At around 7am (Hanoi time), the world's largest video sharing app was inaccessible, reporting a loss of connection. The problem appeared on a large scale, not specific to any user account or region. Currently, the platform has fixed the problem with a small number of customers on mobile. The problem continues on the website format.

On the Down Detector reporting platform, there were around 390,000 shares of the problem with YouTube in just one hour. The number is still increasing by the minute as the problem continues, not yet fully resolved. At the same time, the morning working hours in many Asian countries are about to start, making the difficult access annoying for many people.

More than 300,000 people reported YouTube down on the morning of October 16.

According to Ookla's platform, 56% of users reported problems with video playback. Apps and websites were the rest. YouTube Music and YouTube TV were also down around the same time. According to Down Detector data, many platforms were experiencing issues like YouTube, but the number of error reports was much lower on the morning of October 16. A global cloud issue is not currently ruled out as the cause of the disruption.

YouTube and Google have yet to make an official announcement about this widespread problem.
