Over 300,000 reports of YouTube being down were received on the morning of October 16th. |
According to Ookla's platform, 56% of users reported experiencing issues with video playback. The app and website were the rest. Similarly, YouTube Music and YouTube TV also froze during the same period. According to Down Detector data, many other platforms experienced problems similar to YouTube, but with significantly fewer error reports on the morning of October 16th. A global cloud issue causing this disruption cannot be ruled out.
YouTube and Google have yet to release an official statement regarding this widespread outage.
