Starting at 11:00 AM on February 20th, many Zalo users reported that when they sent files through the platform, the recipients were unable to open them.
Mr. Cong Thinh, an office worker in District 1 (Ho Chi Minh City), said that when he sends Word and PDF files, his colleagues open them and receive a warning: "Unable to download. Please try again later."
"I tried creating a different file to send, but the recipient still couldn't download it. I had to send the file via email so the recipient could open it," Mr. Thinh said.
Similarly, Ms. Phuong Hoa, an office worker in District 3 (Ho Chi Minh City), also reported that only image files sent via Zalo could be opened by customers, while audio files, PDFs, and Word documents could not. She then had to switch to the Messenger app for convenience in sending and opening documents.
"Initially, I thought it was because my computer was infected with a virus, but when I asked friends and colleagues, I found that everyone else had experienced a similar situation," said Ms. Hoa.
The recipient cannot download audio files, PDFs, Word documents, etc., sent via Zalo to their device.
Previously, in October 2024, Zalo users also experienced issues preventing them from downloading files and audio sent within the application, affecting communication.
At the end of the fourth quarter of 2024, Zalo reported that it recorded an average of about 2 billion messages exchanged on its platform every day.
The 2024 summary report of the Ministry of Information and Communications also shows that Zalo currently leads the domestic social network market, holding nearly 70% of the market share.
To maintain its position as the leading messaging platform in Vietnam, Zalo is expanding its ecosystem from digital content and electronic payments to artificial intelligence in order to enhance the user experience.
Zalo Video , the short video platform on Zalo, attracts 35 million regular users. The smaller Zalo Mini App also reaches 31 million monthly users, creating opportunities for businesses and developers to provide services and interact with customers directly on the platform.
Zalo is a free messaging and calling application for mobile phones and computers, launched in August 2012. To date, Zalo has coverage in all 63 provinces and cities nationwide.
