On the evening of May 15th, the opening ceremony of the Thai Nguyen Tourism Season 2026, themed "Symphony: Lakes on the Mountains - Tea in the Clouds," took place at Vo Nguyen Giap Square (Phan Dinh Phung Ward, Thai Nguyen Province), attracting tens of thousands of locals and tourists.
Attending the program were Ms. Pham Thi Thanh Tra, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Deputy Prime Minister; Mr. Hoang Duy Chinh, Standing Vice Chairman of the National Assembly's Ethnic Council ; and leaders from various ministries, departments, and central agencies. Representing Thai Nguyen province were Mr. Trinh Xuan Truong, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Mr. Vuong Quoc Tuan, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.

The program was directed by the People's Committee of Thai Nguyen province and implemented by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thai Nguyen province. The script and overall direction were handled by Thu Hoai; commentary by People's Artist Le Chuc; overall choreography by Meritorious Artist Phan Luong; music director - composer Luu Quang Minh; and art design - painter Phung Nam Thang.
Built in a semi-epic structure comprising three movements – "Symphony: Lake on the Mountain - Tea in the Clouds ," " The Sound of the Thousand Winds," and "The Epic of Thai Nguyen - A Land of Wonders" – the program guides the audience through the nature, history, and aspirations for development of Thai Nguyen.
From symphony combined with 3D mapping, Broadway musicals, contemporary dance to drone light shows and large-scale real-life scenes, the entire performance was staged as a special artistic "symphony," depicting the beauty of the mountain lake, tea culture, the historical depth of ATK "Capital of the Thousand Winds," and the youthful, modern face of Thai Nguyen tourism today.
The program brings together many artists such as My Linh, Anh Tho, Hoang Hai, Vo Ha Tram, Duong Hoang Yen, Double2T… along with the Maius Philharmonic Orchestra, Thang Long Choir, Vietnam Circus Federation, PL Dance Troupe, Viet Bac College of Culture and Arts and Thai Nguyen University of Education.

The program opened with a mashup of "Hello Vietnam " and " Come to Thai Nguyen with me," featuring the voices of My Linh and Meritorious Artist Luong Huy, combined with a choir, students, and a dance troupe, creating a vibrant festive atmosphere as a welcome to visitors to the land of tea.

Chapter 1 - The Symphony: Lake on the Mountain - Tea in the Clouds opens a cinematic artistic journey where nature, culture, and legends of Thai Nguyen blend in the language of symphonic music, contemporary dance, and 3D mapping technology.
The "Heaven and Earth Harmony" orchestral performance blends modern symphonic elements with the folk melodies of Northern Vietnam, recreating the mystical atmosphere of lakes, mountains, tea hills, and the vast forests of Thai Nguyen. Following this, the ancient Then singing of Ky Yen Pao Phuc , accompanied by the sound of the Tinh lute and scenes of labor and tea-picking dances, vividly portrays the local cultural life and the beauty of the Tan Cuong tea region.
The emotional highlight of the first chapter is the musical drama "The Love Story of the Prince and the Lady of the Valley ." Against a backdrop of visual mapping water screens and modern lighting effects, the performances of "Love , " "Love Song ," "Separation ," and "Loneliness" create an atmosphere that is both romantic and intense. Concluding the first chapter, the song "Legend of Lake Nui Coc," sung by My Linh, along with a grand stage scene divided between a storm and moonlight, leads the audience into the realm of "lake on the mountain - tea in the clouds."

Chapter 2 - The Sound of the Thousand Winds takes the audience back to Viet Bac with the heroic sounds of history. The song "He Is Ho Chi Minh," performed by Viet Tu, has a solemn and sacred feel. The "Road Ahead," performed by Hoang Hai, combined with a grand marching scene, recreates the spirit of the resistance years.
Meanwhile, "Homeland in the Sunlight," sung by Duong Hoang Yen with a vibrant red stage visual, exuded a modern concert vibe, while "Continuing the Story of Peace," performed by Vo Ha Tram, became an emotional bridge between the past and the present.
Beyond recreating history, the performance also incorporated tourism promotion focusing on the historical roots of the ATK Thai Nguyen region through images of the Viet Bac mountains and forests, the Na Nua hut, and historical routes that continuously appeared on the stage screen. The mashup " Having Uncle Ho in My Heart " and "Vietnamese Child" concluded the show with a youthful and friendly atmosphere thanks to the appearance of the "cool child" Xe Xe.

After two epic chapters, chapter 3 - The Epic - The Magical Land - presents a youthful, modern look for Thai Nguyen today. The stage shifts to a concert-like atmosphere with constantly moving lights, modern visuals, and vibrant music.
The song "Lake on the Mountain, " sung by Anh Thơ, becomes a bridge between the poetic quality of the first movement and the modern spirit of the final movement. Following that, "Lovely Lake Ba Bể," performed by Meritorious Artist Lương Huy and Anh Thơ, expands the cultural landscape of Việt Bắc with its gentle, folk-like music.
The stage truly exploded with Double2T's "Xập xình xập xình" (Rumbling and Slapstick ). The rap style, combined with folk melodies from the mountainous regions, brought a youthful yet distinctly highland feel.
The performance of "The Vast Sky Days" by Vo Hoai Anh, Viet Tu, Ho Tuan Anh, along with the PL Dance Troupe and students from Thai Nguyen University of Education, embodies the inspiring spirit of youth, portraying a dynamic, open, and aspirational Thai Nguyen.

The program concluded with a mashup of "Beautiful Vietnam - Shining Thai Nguyen," featuring a large number of artists, choirs, dance troupes, and students. Amidst the vibrant music, fireworks, and stage lights, the performance served as an energetic welcome to Thai Nguyen's new tourism season.

The drone light show, combined with the musical performance " Brilliant Day - Light Behind the Clouds," became an impressive highlight of the opening night, transforming the sky into a giant light stage telling the story of Thai Nguyen province.

Against a backdrop of symphonic music, a series of cultural, historical, and tourism symbols appear one after another, such as the image of Ly Nam De, the Dinh Hoa Revolutionary Base, President Ho Chi Minh, Nui Coc Lake, tea hills, teapots, Then singing and Tinh lute playing…
Beyond showcasing technology, the drone light show created a visually rich and emotional journey, portraying Thai Nguyen as a province rich in tradition yet youthful, dynamic, and shining brightly on its path of tourism development.
1,000 pairs of stalls set a Vietnamese record.
One of the most impressive moments of the opening ceremony was the community bamboo pole dance performance with 1,000 pairs of bamboo poles, officially setting a Vietnamese record for the largest bamboo pole dance performance in the country. Notably, the Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party and Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra also participated in the dance with the people.
