Royal Palace (Royal Palace of Cambodia)
The Royal Palace is notable for its classical Khmer architectural style and gilded roof. It is the residence of King Sihamoni and the royal family, foreign dignitaries, and the venue for court meetings, diplomatic ceremonies, and royal festivals. As a result, most of the palace is closed to the public.
Tourists are only allowed to visit the Throne Hall, the Silver Pagoda, and the surrounding buildings. Visitors must wear knee-length pants and elbow-length sleeves. Otherwise, they must wear a sarong. The palace is often crowded on weekends, when locals flock to pay their respects to the king. However, mingling with the crowds is a fun way to experience it, according to Lonely Planet.
Admission is $10. Visitors are encouraged to hire a guide to fully understand the history and architecture of this place.
