The Department of Industry ( Ministry of Industry and Trade ) recently announced that it has received reports from 2 associations and 15 businesses (including 24 car brands and 4 motorcycle brands) publishing a list of vehicles compatible with E10 bioethanol fuel as of June 25th.
Most vehicles in Vietnam are compatible with E10 gasoline.
The review results show that the majority of vehicles manufactured, assembled, imported, and officially distributed in Vietnam are compatible with E10 gasoline according to international technical standards and current fuel regulations.
Typically, Toyota Motor Vietnam states that all models officially manufactured, assembled, imported, and distributed by the company from 1997 to the present are designed to be compatible with unleaded gasoline blended with up to 10% ethanol (E10), requiring no technical adjustments during use.
Similarly, Mitsubishi Motors Vietnam Co., Ltd. affirms that all gasoline-powered vehicles distributed in Vietnam from 2005 to the present are fully compatible with E10 gasoline, meeting current fuel quality standards. The fuel system, injectors, rubber gaskets, and fuel lines are designed to ensure stable and safe operation without requiring any technical modifications or special maintenance.
For Mercedes-Benz, technical evaluation results from Mercedes-Benz AG show that all passenger car models, Mercedes-Maybach, Mercedes-AMG, Smart, and models using gasoline engines are compatible with E10 fuel.
Other businesses such as Hyundai Thanh Cong, Ford Vietnam, and Skoda have also confirmed that the genuine vehicles they distribute in Vietnam meet the requirement of using fuel with a maximum ethanol content of 10%.
Brands such as Kia, Mazda, Peugeot, BMW, Mini, Jeep, and RAM, manufactured, assembled, or distributed in Vietnam by Thaco , are also confirmed to be compatible with E10 gasoline.
Honda Vietnam stated that all car models officially manufactured, assembled, imported, and distributed by the company from 2006 to the present can use E10 gasoline according to international fuel standards. Suzuki Vietnam also affirmed that car models distributed from 2001 to the present are designed to be compatible with this type of fuel.
Many commercial vehicles and trucks using gasoline engines currently on the market, such as Thaco's Towner, products from TCIE Vietnam, Daehan Motors, To Chien Thang, Kim Long Motor Hue, and TMT Motors, have also been confirmed to be compatible with E10 gasoline.
In the motorcycle segment, Honda Vietnam stated that all motorcycle models officially manufactured, assembled, imported, and distributed by the company from 1997 to the present are compatible with E10 gasoline. BMW Motorrad motorcycles imported and distributed in Vietnam by Thaco are also included in this list.
Older cars need their fuel system checked.
According to the Department of Industry, initial review results show that most genuine cars and motorcycles currently in circulation in Vietnam can use E10 gasoline without needing engine modifications or changes to technical structure.
For some older vehicles that are no longer in production, no longer officially distributed, use carburetors, have undergone structural changes, have been used infrequently for a long time, or have degraded fuel systems, businesses recommend that vehicle owners check and maintain their fuel systems before using E10 gasoline; they should also refer to the owner's manual, fuel recommendation label on the vehicle, or contact authorized dealers or service centers for specific advice.
In addition, car manufacturers publish information about the maintenance schedule and details of scheduled maintenance for vehicles (including items related to the fuel system), the address of qualified service centers, and other necessary maintenance information in the vehicle owner's manual and on the company's website.
According to the Department of Industry, the simultaneous announcement by car manufacturers of vehicle models compatible with E10 gasoline is an important basis for consumers to confidently switch to biofuels, contributing to the government's roadmap for reducing emissions and ensuring energy security.
