The anniversary of the death of a deceased person is a beautiful cultural tradition of the Vietnamese people, observed in every family for thousands of years. It has become a custom that every year on the 21st of July (lunar calendar), the Nghe An Hometown Association in Hanoi organizes a solemn commemoration of President Ho Chi Minh's death, following the traditional rituals of the nation with all sincerity and gratitude for his immense contributions.

Fifty-five years have passed since the passing of President Ho Chi Minh , the beloved leader of our nation. Throughout his life, he dedicated and sacrificed himself to the revolutionary cause of the entire nation, bringing prosperity and happiness to the people. On September 2nd, 1969 (corresponding to the 21st day of the 7th lunar month), he departed forever to the eternal realm. His passing has left immeasurable sorrow for the entire Party, the entire nation, and international friends.

Mr. Le Doan Hop, Chairman of the Nghe An Hometown Association in Hanoi, on behalf of the people of Nghe An, before the sacred image of President Ho Chi Minh at House No. 67 where he breathed his last, and in the ancestral worship room of President Ho Chi Minh in the Presidential Palace, reported on the activities and sentiments of the people who have shown special affection for him:

"Imbued with Uncle Ho's wise teachings, we promise our beloved Uncle Ho: We will continue to diligently educate and encourage the children of Nghe An in Hanoi to strive for excellence, worthy of being descendants of Uncle Ho. We will continue the glorious tradition of our heroic Soviet homeland in the capital city."

Tomorrow, August 25th, 2024, in commemoration of the 79th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2nd, and the 55th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's passing, the Nghe An Hometown Association in Hanoi will organize a gathering and exchange to honor outstanding artists and writers from their hometown who are living, working, and studying in Hanoi. This is the best way to encourage those from President Ho Chi Minh's hometown to always care for the spiritual life of their homeland, Hanoi, and the country. Following previous gatherings of intellectuals, military and police generals, and journalists, this gathering of artists and writers aims to continue honoring the talents of their hometown in Hanoi so that they can contribute more effectively to the spiritual life in the era of globalization.

"Dear Uncle!"

From now until the end of 2024, the Nghe An Hometown Association in Hanoi will undertake three more projects of high cultural significance:

  • Bringing back books by President Ho Chi Minh, prominent leaders, and successful individuals from Nghe An living in the capital to donate to libraries and schools in the province.
  • We are collecting donations of money and materials to give to our compatriots in remote areas to celebrate Tet (Lunar New Year) in 2025. We consider this a practical duty of those of us living far from home, showing our love for our motherland.
  • To commemorate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2024), the Nghe An Hometown Association in Hanoi will organize a gathering of heroes and generals of the People's Army who are sons and daughters of Nghe An currently living and working in the capital city. The purpose is to foster interaction, learning, and to honor those who contributed to the three wars of resistance against France, the United States, and China, ultimately achieving peace and independence for the nation.

Finally, we respectfully pray that Uncle Ho rests in eternal peace, and blesses our Party, our people, and our homeland with successful reforms, victorious international cooperation, a prosperous and strong country, a peaceful and happy people, and a homeland that progresses continuously…”

Fifty-five years have passed since his passing, but his image lives on in the hearts of every Vietnamese person. On this day, many organizations and families have chosen different ways to express their gratitude, but above all, it is a heartfelt respect and appreciation for Uncle Ho.
