TPO - Regarding the case of a female student in Thanh Hoa who was beaten by a group of students, resulting in a fractured cervical vertebra, nearly a month after being charged as suspects, the six female students are still attending school as usual.

On January 7th, speaking to the press, Mr. Le Van Thanh, from Trung Chinh commune, Nong Cong district (Thanh Hoa province), the father of the female student who was assaulted by a group of students, said that more than three months have passed since his daughter was beaten and nearly a month since the police initiated the case and charged the suspects. However, the female students who were charged have not yet been prosecuted and are attending school normally.

Mr. Thanh also stated that, based on the Ministry of Education and Training 's circular on handling violations by students, the family has just submitted a petition to the Thanh Hoa Department of Education and Training, requesting that Nong Cong High School and Nong Cong 2 High School (where the students involved in the assault attend) be directed to provide a course of action that ensures objectivity, timeliness, and serves as a deterrent for other similar cases...

Regarding this matter, a representative from the Thanh Hoa Provincial Department of Education and Training stated that, concerning the group of female students involved in the group assault, the school held a council meeting after the incident and decided on disciplinary action. Currently, the school is still awaiting the results from the police or a recommendation from them before taking further action.

Previously, Tien Phong newspaper reported that on October 4, 2024, a female student from class 10A6 of Nong Cong 2 High School, Nong Cong district (Thanh Hoa province), while walking home from school, saw a female student from class 10A5 walking behind her, talking and laughing with another student. The student from class 10A6 thought that her classmate was badmouthing her, leading to an argument. On the afternoon of October 5, after school ended, the two students continued to argue and quarrel. Afterwards, the school security guard dispersed the crowd, and all the students went home. However, upon reaching Tan Phuc commune, Nong Cong district, the students continued to argue, leading to a fight.

As a result, an 11th-grade female student (who intervened in the fight between her friends) was subjected to a group assault and suffered serious injuries, requiring her transfer to Viet Duc Hospital for treatment. On December 9, 2024, the Criminal Investigation Agency of Nong Cong District Police issued a decision to initiate criminal proceedings and indict six female students for the crime of "intentionally causing injury".
