At the end of the year, on the hillsides of Mi Hang village (Mu Cang Chai commune) and Trong Tong village (Pung Luong commune, Lao Cai province), the flowers of the Tớ Dày tree bloom in shades of pink, intertwined with the green of the mountains and forests and the brown of the soil.
The carpets of flowers stretch across the mountain passes, creating a multi-layered, colorful landscape that is both rustic and vibrant.

Every time the flowers bloom, many tourists come to visit and admire them.
“The mountain scenery has retained its pristine beauty, dotted with vibrant flowers, making me feel like I’m immersed in a highland natural landscape,” shared Ngo Duy Dung, a tourist from Hanoi .
As someone born and raised in Mu Cang Chai and currently working as a tour guide in the commune, Mr. Giang A Sua said that compared to previous years, the Tớ Dày flowers bloomed earlier this year. On some high hills in the area, the flowers are already displaying their vibrant colors.

"The flowers of the 'tố dày' plant start blooming from the high mountains downwards because the cold weather stimulates them to bloom earlier," Mr. Súa said.
According to Mr. Súa, upon hearing the news, many tourists called for advice, scheduled appointments, and booked tours. If the weather remains as it is now until the end of 2025, Tớ Dày flowers will bloom profusely throughout the forests.
Previously, the flowers grew naturally because the seeds fell and germinated on their own when conditions were favorable. Local people often cut them down for firewood, stripped the bark to make musical instruments, tools, etc.

In recent years, the flowers have bloomed more abundantly and beautifully, attracting tourists and leading to the development of services such as accommodation, guided tours, motorbike taxis, and photography, creating new sources of income for the local people. Gradually, these dense forests have been preserved and more trees have been planted to serve tourists.
"Following the guidance of the local government and the Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, cooperative groups for tourism have been established in all communes. Posters, tour guides, homestays, restaurants, etc., form a linked chain, agreeing on prices and supporting each other in promoting local tourism," said Mr. Giang A Sua.

Mr. Le Xuan Duong, Director of the Communication and Culture Center of Mu Cang Chai commune, said that the local government has developed a plan to organize the Mong Flute Festival, the To Day Flower Festival, and a series of activities to celebrate the Lunar New Year in 2026, expected to take place from December 31, 2025 to the end of January 2026, with many rich and unique programs.
The activities aim to promote and spread traditional cultural values; strengthen linkages and develop tourism in a sustainable direction, while contributing to preserving and promoting the cultural identity of the H'Mông ethnic people in the area.
