The Vietnam University Rankings 2025 (VNUR-2025) have just been announced, with the biggest surprise being the inclusion of a new name in the top 10.
VNUR (Viet Nam's University Rankings) has just announced the ranking of Vietnamese universities for 2025. The top 10 has seen slight changes in some positions and includes the addition of a new university.
According to the rankings, Vietnam National University, Hanoi and Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City continue to hold the 1st and 2nd positions.
Ton Duc Thang University dropped to 5th place, leaving Hanoi University of Science and Technology in 3rd place. The University of Commerce also fell out of the top 10, down to 12th place.
Most notably in this year's top 10 is the appearance of the Hanoi University of Science and Technology (USTH). This university made a spectacular leap, entering the top 10 for the first time at position 7, a jump of 25 places compared to last year (from position 32).
Ten higher education institutions that were not in the top 100 of VNUR-2024 have joined the top 100 of VNUR-2025 for the first time. Among these, Ho Chi Minh City University of Physical Education and Sports saw the biggest increase, climbing 118 places to rank 57th.
In the top 10, there are 9 public higher education institutions and only one private institution, Duy Tan University, ranked 5th.
In the top 100, a total of 40 higher education institutions in the VNUR-2024 TOP 100 have improved their rankings this year.
The ranking increase ranges from 1 to 30. Within this group, the higher education institution with the biggest increase in ranking is the Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy, with a rise of 30 places, from 85th position in 2024 to 55th in 2025.

VNUR conducts university rankings by collecting and processing data according to six criteria, including 18 calibrated key indicators. The six ranking criteria include accredited quality, teaching, scientific publication, scientific and technological tasks and inventions, student quality, and facilities.
