98.74% of voters in Quang Tri province agree to the merger plan with Quang Binh.

Accordingly, in Quang Tri province, there are 177,406 voters, of whom 172,811 participated in providing feedback on the proposal to establish Quang Tri province based on the merger of Quang Binh and Quang Tri provinces. As a result, 170,668 voters agreed, achieving a rate of 98.74%.

Voters in many localities in Quang Tri province have suggested that, based on the conditions of information technology infrastructure and digital transformation in the operation of the government apparatus, the Quang Tri provincial government (after the merger) should consider allocating a reasonable proportion of officials, civil servants, and employees to work simultaneously at the current administrative headquarters of Quang Tri province and at the administrative- political center of the merged province (Dong Hoi City) to ensure state management in Quang Tri and reduce difficulties in commuting and living for officials, civil servants, and employees, and reduce the pressure of investing in upgrading and renovating the new headquarters in the initial phase of the merger.

In addition, it is proposed to issue new, specific local policies in accordance with central government regulations to support officials and civil servants who have to transfer to work far from home, such as policies on public housing, social housing, and travel expense support, in order to encourage officials and civil servants to feel secure in their work under the new conditions.

It is proposed that the Quang Tri Provincial Government (after merger) should consider a plan to build a new administrative and political center in a suitable location, ensuring balance and harmony in terms of space; optimizing the functions of political leadership and state administrative management; creating favorable conditions and providing the best service for citizens and businesses to access public services; and simultaneously serving as a center to drive the development of satellite cities; ensuring long-term, sustainable socio-economic development in line with the trend of international integration.

Previously, on April 22nd, the Department of Internal Affairs of Quang Binh province submitted a quick report on the results of the public consultation regarding the reorganization of administrative units. The results showed that 97.9% of voters agreed with the plan to merge Quang Binh province with Quang Tri province to form the new Quang Tri province.

The merger of Quang Binh and Quang Tri provinces is a strategic move aimed at creating new development momentum and maximizing the advantages of both provinces and the region.

The new Quang Tri province will have an area of approximately 12,700 km² , a population of about 1.8 million people, and 78 commune-level administrative units (69 communes, 8 wards, and 1 special zone).
