Jarell Quansah is the latest England player to suffer an injury.
Coach Thomas Tuchel is facing a difficult personnel dilemma in New Jersey (USA). Although England just concluded the group stage with a 2-0 victory over Panama, the joy of the "Three Lions" is not complete as the list of injured players at right-back continues to grow.
It all started with Tino Livramento's injury, then worsened with Reece James's case. Most recently, at MetLife Stadium, Jarell Quansah was the next name to suffer a problem. The young Bayer Leverkusen defender was deployed out of position on the right flank by Tuchel to fill a void, but he also had to leave the field early due to an ankle injury.
Speaking at the post-match press conference, Tuchel confirmed: "Quansah has sprained his ankle and is in a lot of pain. He said he had a similar injury before and recovered after a few days. We hope that scenario repeats itself, but currently the injured area is being bandaged and iced."
Previously, Reece James's absence was an unexpected shock to the coaching staff. The Chelsea star is currently undergoing an intensive recovery program after suffering a hamstring problem, which caused him to miss recent training sessions.
With all three of his right-back options unavailable, the German manager is forced to look for makeshift solutions before entering the knockout rounds.
