Who got the heaviest sentence?

This afternoon, August 27, the People's Court of Ha Tinh City reopened the first instance trial of the case of 5 former Ha Tinh Club players using drugs, sentencing the defendants for the crime of organizing illegal drug use, including: Dinh Thanh Trung (36 years old) was sentenced to 4 years and 6 months in prison, Duong Quang Tuan (28 years old) to 4 years and 6 months in prison, Nguyen Trung Hoc (26 years old) to 4 years in prison, Nguyen Ngoc Thang (22 years old) to 4 years in prison and Nguyen Van Truong (21 years old) to 4 years in prison.

The defendants are former players of Ha Tinh Club at the trial on August 27.

According to the indictment of the People's Procuracy of Ha Tinh City, at noon on May 4, Ha Tinh City Police inspected room 501 of Binh Minh Hotel (in Tran Phu Ward, Ha Tinh City) and discovered Trung, Tuan, Hoc, Thang, Truong and 5 girls were illegally using drugs. Among them, there was a girl just over 17 years old.

At the scene, Ha Tinh City Police seized 1.9576 grams of Ketamine, 0.6064 grams of MDMA and 510 ml of Methamphetamine, MDMA, Ketamine and Nimetazepam.

At the time of arrest, the 5 former Ha Tinh players confessed to having organized illegal drug use among themselves and invited 5 girls to use it together. Drug tests on the bodies of the 5 former players and 5 girls all tested positive for drugs.

The investigation agency determined that Trung played the role of mastermind, initiator, provided location, directly went to get drugs for others to illegally use drugs; Tuan was the person directly involved in purchasing and getting drugs, preparing tools and objects to organize illegal drug use, directly stir-fried Ketamine for others to use, and gave drugs to others to use; Hoc was the person who prepared soft drinks to mix drugs, gave drugs to others to use; Thang was the person who prepared tools to organize illegal drug use, gave drugs to others to use, and prepared soft drinks and objects to organize illegal drug use.

Defendants Trung and Tuan confessed to having used drugs several times.

During the interrogation, Dinh Thanh Trung was the first defendant called to the witness stand by the jury. Standing in the dock, defendant Trung admitted that he was the initiator and also the one who took the drugs to the hotel for use with 4 junior colleagues and 5 girls.

"Have you used drugs many times?", the panel asked. Defendant Trung said he had used drugs several times before but could not remember the time.

The panel of judges continued to ask: "What do you think about your criminal behavior?" Defendant Trung replied: "I am very remorseful for my actions. I hope the panel of judges will reduce my sentence because I have had a number of achievements and titles in my football career and have received many certificates of merit."

Defendant Duong Quang Tuan admitted to the People's Court that he was the person directly in contact with the person nicknamed "Chi Chi" to buy drugs online.

"Before being arrested, did you ever use drugs?", the panel of judges asked defendant Tuan. "I used drugs a few times, but it was so long ago that I don't remember. I repent and regret my illegal actions. Because of my lack of thinking and rashness, I have to pay the price today. I am very sorry to everyone who loves me," defendant Tuan stated.

While standing at the witness stand, the defendants Hoc, Thang and Truong also expressed remorse for their illegal actions. These defendants also asked the jury to reduce their sentences because of their many achievements and contributions to the Ha Tinh team and Vietnamese football.

"The defendant is a Tay ethnic, his family is in a difficult situation. The defendant repents and regrets his violations. The defendant would like to send his most sincere apologies to the fans of Ha Tinh and the club in charge," defendant Hoc told the panel of judges.

At the trial, the panel of judges also informed the 5 defendants that Ha Tinh Club had sent a document to the People's Court of Ha Tinh City requesting a reduction in the defendants' sentences because they had made many contributions to the team.
