Who received the harshest sentence?

This afternoon, August 27th, the People's Court of Ha Tinh City reopened the first-instance trial of the case involving 5 former Ha Tinh Club players for drug use. The defendants were sentenced for organizing the illegal use of narcotics, including: Dinh Thanh Trung (36 years old) to 4 years and 6 months in prison, Duong Quang Tuan (28 years old) to 4 years and 6 months in prison, Nguyen Trung Hoc (26 years old) to 4 years in prison, Nguyen Ngoc Thang (22 years old) to 4 years in prison, and Nguyen Van Truong (21 years old) to 4 years in prison.

The defendants, former players of Ha Tinh Club, appeared in court on August 27.

According to the indictment of the People's Procuracy of Ha Tinh City, on the afternoon of May 4th, the Ha Tinh City Police inspected room 501 of the Binh Minh Hotel (located in Tran Phu Ward, Ha Tinh City) and discovered Trung, Tuan, Hoc, Thang, Truong, and five girls illegally using drugs. One of the girls was just over 17 years old.

At the scene, the Ha Tinh City Police seized 1.9576 grams of Ketamine, 0.6064 grams of MDMA, and 510ml of Methamphetamine, MDMA, Ketamine, and Nimetazepam.

At the time of their arrest, the five former players from the Ha Tinh team confessed to organizing and illegally using drugs among themselves and inviting five girls to use them as well. Drug tests conducted on the five former players and the five girls confirmed that all five tested positive for narcotics.

The investigating agency determined that Trung played the role of mastermind, initiating the operation, providing the location, and directly obtaining the drugs for others to use illegally; Tuan directly contacted buyers and obtained the drugs, prepared the tools and materials for organizing the illegal use of drugs, directly prepared Ketamine for others to use, and distributed the drugs to others; Hoc prepared soft drinks for mixing the drugs and distributed the drugs to others; Thang prepared the tools for organizing the illegal use of drugs, distributed the drugs to others, and prepared soft drinks and materials for organizing the illegal use of drugs.

During the questioning phase, Dinh Thanh Trung was the first defendant called to the witness stand by the panel of judges. Standing before the dock, defendant Trung admitted that he was the instigator and the one who retrieved the drugs and brought them to the hotel for him, along with four accomplices and five women, to use.

"Have you used drugs many times before?", the panel of judges asked. Defendant Trung testified that he "had used drugs a few times before but couldn't remember the exact times."

The judge then asked, "What are your thoughts on your criminal actions?" Defendant Trung replied, "I deeply regret my actions. I hope the court will reduce my sentence because I have achieved several accomplishments and titles in my football career and received many commendations."

Testifying before the court, defendant Duong Quang Tuan admitted that he was the one who directly contacted the person nicknamed "Chi Chi" to buy drugs online.

"Before your arrest, did you ever use drugs?" the judges asked defendant Tuan. "I did use drugs a few times, but it was a long time ago, so I don't remember. I am remorseful and deeply regret my illegal actions. Due to my thoughtlessness and impulsiveness, I am paying the price today. I sincerely apologize to everyone who has loved me," defendant Tuan confessed.

Standing at the witness stand, defendants Hoc, Thang, and Truong also expressed remorse for their illegal actions. They also requested the court to reduce their sentences due to their many achievements and contributions to the Ha Tinh team and Vietnamese football.

"The defendant is of the Tay ethnic group, and his family is in difficult circumstances. The defendant is remorseful and regretful for his wrongdoing. The defendant would like to offer his sincerest apologies to the fans of Ha Tinh and his club," defendant Hoc stated to the panel of judges.

At the trial, the panel of judges also informed the five defendants that Ha Tinh Club had sent a document to the People's Court of Ha Tinh City requesting leniency for the defendants due to their significant contributions to the team.
