Artificial intelligence is a current global trend in the technology industry. Applying this new tool to improve daily life and accelerate the development of the digital economy and digital society has become a key focus for Vietnam.
Speaking at the first National Forum on Digital Economy and Digital Society Development (held on September 13-14 in Nam Dinh ), Mr. Tran Tuan Anh, Member of the Politburo and Head of the Central Economic Committee, assessed that the Fourth Industrial Revolution, linked with digital transformation, the development of the digital economy, digital society, and digital government, has become the main driving force leading the trend of economic development in the world and in each country. Although Vietnam has achieved initial positive results in the national digital transformation process, practical experience shows that many challenges remain.

The Head of the Central Economic Committee stated that AI is one of the key areas that ministries, departments, and localities nationwide need to focus on implementing in the coming period in order to achieve breakthrough approaches and solutions to realize the set goals.
"The national database is a new resource and a crucial foundation for national digital transformation. Alongside this, artificial intelligence is becoming a key foundational technology driving digital transformation across industries, sectors, organizations, and businesses, creating a breakthrough in national production capacity and competitiveness," said Mr. Tran Tuan Anh.
Speaking at the event, Tran Minh Tuan, Director of the Department of Digital Economy and Digital Society ( Ministry of Information and Communications ), affirmed: "Harnessing the power of AI will help Vietnam accelerate digital transformation. Artificial intelligence will combine with real intelligence to solve problems and challenges that were previously beyond human capabilities."
However, the Director also emphasized that acceleration must be accompanied by sustainable development plans. In particular, when discussing AI, data security and privacy protection must be considered to ensure the right direction and prevent malicious actors from exploiting AI to create increasingly sophisticated fake and fraudulent content.
According to estimates and reports from the Ministry of Information and Communications, the share of the digital economy in GDP increased from 11.91% in 2021 to 14.26% in 2022 and reached approximately 14.96% in the first six months of 2023. In 2022, more than 1,400 Vietnamese digital technology businesses generated revenue from overseas markets, an increase of nearly 20% compared to 2021.
