Artificial intelligence is the development trend of the global technology industry today. Applying this new tool to serve the convenience of daily life, contributing to accelerating the development goals of the digital economy and digital society has become one of the focuses of Vietnam.
Sharing at the first National Forum on Digital Economy and Digital Society Development (held on September 13-14 in Nam Dinh), Mr. Tran Tuan Anh - Politburo member, Head of the Central Economic Commission, assessed that the Fourth Industrial Revolution associated with digital transformation, digital economic development, digital society, and digital government has become the main driving force leading the economic development trend of the world and each country. Although Vietnam has achieved the first positive results in the process of national digital transformation, reality shows that there are still many challenges.

The Head of the Central Economic Commission said that AI is one of the contents that ministries, branches and localities nationwide need to pay attention to implementing in the coming time in order to have breakthrough approaches and solutions to achieve the set goals.
"The national database is a new resource, an important foundation for national digital transformation. Along with that, artificial intelligence is an important foundational technology leading digital transformation activities in industries, fields, organizations, and enterprises, creating a breakthrough in production capacity and national competitiveness," said Mr. Tran Tuan Anh.
Speaking at the event, Director of the Department of Digital Economy and Digital Society ( Ministry of Information and Communications ) Tran Minh Tuan affirmed: "Exploiting the power of AI will help Vietnam accelerate digital transformation. Artificial intelligence will combine with real intelligence to solve problems and challenges that human power could not complete before."
However, the Director also emphasized that the acceleration must be accompanied by sustainable development plans. In particular, when talking about AI, we must consider data security plans and privacy protection to have the right direction, preventing bad guys from taking advantage of AI to create increasingly sophisticated fake and fraudulent content.
According to estimates and reports from the Ministry of Information and Communications, the proportion of the digital economy in GDP has increased from 11.91% in 2021 to 14.26% in 2022 and reached about 14.96% in the first 6 months of 2023. The e-Conomy SEA annual digital economy report researched by Google and Temasek announced that Vietnam's digital economy growth rate in 2022 was 28%, leading among Southeast Asian countries. In 2022, there were more than 1,400 Vietnamese digital technology enterprises with revenue from foreign markets, an increase of nearly 20% compared to 2021.
