Spreading knowledge from the digital space of the school.

VHO - In the context of widespread digital transformation in education, digital libraries have become an inevitable trend and an important school cultural space, contributing to the development of reading habits and improving the quality of teaching and learning. At Son My High School (Quang Ngai), the digital library model has initially proven effective, helping students access knowledge more conveniently and in a modern way.

Flexible learning environment

For many students, digital libraries are no longer a foreign concept but have become a daily companion in their studies. Le Huynh Hong Phuc, a student in class 10A5, shared that since accessing the digital library, reading has become much easier and more diverse than before.

In my opinion, digital learning resources not only help expand knowledge but also directly support learning, especially in Literature – a subject that requires accumulation of language skills and appreciation.

"Since I started using the digital library, I've been able to read a lot of books. Reading has helped improve my Literature grades a lot because there's so much beautiful language and rich knowledge," Hong Phuc expressed.

Beyond simply supporting learning, reading helps students develop systematic thinking and absorb knowledge more coherently and deeply than simply learning through classroom lectures.

One of the most outstanding advantages of digital libraries is their flexible accessibility. Students can read books anytime, anywhere, with just a smart device connected to the internet.

"You don't necessarily have to go to the library to read books; as long as you have internet and a QR code, you can access them anywhere," added Hong Phuc.

Each student is given an access code to log into the electronic library system, allowing them to easily access a rich collection of materials from the comfort of their own homes, helping to make reading a regular habit.

Digital libraries not only offer convenience but also open up opportunities to access a more diverse collection of books, helping students discover new sources of knowledge that were previously less accessible.

For Tran Gia Thinh, a student at Son My High School, reading books through digital platforms allows him to easily access a wide variety of books, thereby gaining a deeper understanding of the value of each work.

"Reading in the digital library makes it easier for me to access many types of books I didn't know before, and it also helps me better understand the value that each book brings," said Gia Thinh.

The reading culture has spread widely thanks to the digital school library model.

Meanwhile, Pham Huynh Le Na believes that digital libraries make information searching faster and more efficient, significantly supporting learning and self-study. "With just one click, I can find the necessary information… helping me learn more," Na shared.

Fostering a reading culture

The digital library of Son My High School officially launched in September 2025, built through the joint contributions of alumni and generous donors during the "Lighting Up Dreams - Homeland in Our Hearts" Caravan Journey event organized by the Connecting Love Club to celebrate the school's 40th anniversary.

Alongside traditional libraries, digital libraries allow students to access learning materials, listen to audiobooks, complete assignments, and search for information online. This makes learning more flexible, proactive, and relevant to modern educational trends.

The school also organizes "library reading sessions" in the regular timetable, giving students time for focused reading and allowing them to complete assignments after each session, thereby developing their appreciation and critical thinking skills.

Currently, the e-learning resource system is recording a steady increase in access each day, clearly reflecting the growing interest and habit of using digital libraries among students.

Furthermore, combining traditional and digital libraries helps the school maintain a fundamental reading space while expanding access to knowledge in a modern way.

Activities promoting a reading culture are also implemented in a coordinated manner, such as book introductions, reading clubs, book quizzes, and creative extracurricular activities, contributing to enriching students' spiritual lives.

“The transition to a digital library model has helped students make better use of their free time to read and research materials, instead of relying solely on paper books as before. The electronic library system not only supports access to materials but also helps the school monitor student interaction levels, thereby providing appropriate guidance in developing a reading culture,” said Ms. Huynh Thi Sam, a librarian at Son My High School.

The library becomes a "companion" in students' journey to acquire knowledge.

Mr. Pham Bach Khoa, Principal of Son My High School, emphasized that in the digital age, libraries are not only places to store knowledge but also play the role of an important information "filter," helping students access authentic and selective sources of knowledge.

According to the professor, a harmonious combination of paper and digital books is the optimal solution, preserving the value of traditional reading while meeting the demands of the technological age.

From its humble beginnings, the digital library at Son My High School is gradually asserting its role as a "bridge of knowledge" in the digital age. Beyond supporting learning, this model also contributes to fostering a reading culture, nurturing a spirit of self-learning, and expanding the doors of knowledge for students in this new era.
