Heartwarming message from the restaurant to the delivery drivers.

A chicken rice restaurant in Phu Tho ward, Ho Chi Minh City, has attracted attention with a notice posted for delivery drivers.

The neatly printed message, affixed to a water dispenser at the entrance of the chicken rice restaurant, reads: "Dear delivery drivers! While waiting for your order, please sit down, relax, and enjoy some iced tea. During peak hours, orders increase, and the restaurant will try its best to complete and deliver your order as quickly as possible. Please wait a moment." Though just a few short sentences, this message warms the hearts of delivery drivers amidst scorching sun, pouring rain, and hurried deliveries.

Small handwriting, big meaning.

Ms. Le My Quyen (24 years old, working at a chicken rice restaurant on Lu Gia Street, Phu Tho Ward) said that the notice has been posted for nearly half a year. The owner came up with the idea of offering water to delivery drivers while they wait because they saw how hard the drivers worked in the sun. Staff placed water dispensers right by the entrance so that drivers could easily see and use them. This chicken rice chain has 14 branches, and many of them display similar notices.

"The staff always try their best to get the delivery drivers to deliver orders to customers as quickly as possible. While waiting, we offer them drinks to help them avoid feeling frustrated, especially during peak hours when the restaurant has a large number of orders. I see that everyone is happy to wait and doesn't rush the staff too much," Ms. Quyen shared.

Not long ago, a sign at a restaurant that read, "Delivery drivers please wait outside, do not sit at customers' tables," sparked intense debate on social media. Many argued that if the restaurant had few tables but many customers, the notice could have been written more tactfully.

Sharing her thoughts on this matter, Ms. Quyen said that the staff at the restaurant where she works always respect delivery drivers. As representatives of customers buying food and directly delivering the meals to them, delivery drivers must be treated with respect. When delivery drivers stop by for lunch, the restaurant always provides free iced tea and reminds staff to add extra rice and plenty of vegetables.

"During busy times, we hope delivery drivers understand if they have to wait a long time. The shop is quite small, so we can't set up tables for delivery drivers to sit at, but there is standing room inside. During quieter times, everyone can sit comfortably," Ms. Quyen said.

Touched by the understanding.

Many delivery drivers share that what touches them is not just the glass of water or the chair, but the respect and understanding shown. In a job that is often stressful, where they are sometimes denied entry to restaurants or forced to wait on the roadside, being invited in to rest is incredibly heartwarming.

The restaurant sells many dishes specializing in chicken.

Nguyen Ngoc Hung (29 years old), a delivery driver for a food delivery app, said: "I hope this image will spread so that everyone will participate; delivery drivers like me will feel very happy." Another delivery driver, Vi Van Ngoc (24 years old), expressed: "I've only been driving a food delivery motorbike for over two years, driving on the road all day, sometimes having to wait a long time for orders, often enduring rain and scorching sun. When I saw this announcement, I suddenly felt happy because I felt cared for. Being able to sit down and have a cool drink while waiting is also a great encouragement."

This seemingly ordinary story evokes images of human kindness in the city: free iced tea stalls along the roadside, free meals, free haircuts… Though small, they all contribute to spreading the message of sharing and compassion, making the city more endearing. The small notice in that chicken rice restaurant is not only for delivery drivers but also a gentle reminder to many others.
