To commemorate Vietnamese Family Day (June 28th), the Provincial Youth Union implemented many practical activities, creating a strong appeal for union members and students in the province. The focus was on the "Meal of Compassion" program for families receiving social welfare benefits, elderly people living alone, and disadvantaged children, as well as the "Family Meal - Connecting with Love" program.

Recently, members of the Youth Union of Mo Cay commune visited Mrs. Nguyen Thi Xa (mother of a fallen soldier, residing in Vinh Khanh hamlet, Mo Cay commune). There, the Youth Union members cleaned the yard and garden, tidied up the living environment, rearranged household items, and prepared a warm lunch with the family. The image of these energetic and enthusiastic young people taking on the task of caring for the family of a fallen soldier left a positive impression on the local people.
The gathering took place in a warm and sincere atmosphere. The caring gaze and thoughtful words of Mrs. Nguyen Thi Xa helped the young people deeply appreciate the value of sharing and gratitude. Talking with the family, the members had the opportunity to learn more about the silent contributions and boundless sacrifices of previous generations to achieve the peace and independence we enjoy today. When all the tasks were completed, the members and the mother of the fallen soldier gathered around a simple meal. The meal helped connect hearts through love and respect.
Mr. Pham Ngoc Trong, Secretary of the Mo Cay Commune Youth Union, expressed: "This activity is a precious opportunity to educate the younger generation about the principle of 'drinking water, remembering the source,' about their responsibility to the community and those who have made significant contributions to the cause of national defense. The stories listened to, each meal shared, are valuable practical lessons about humanity and gratitude that no lesson plan can fully convey."
Along with other localities, students from Cuu Long University organized a visit and prepared lunch for the family of Mrs. Le Thi Phan, a former resistance fighter and mother of a fallen soldier, in Phu Quoi commune.
Around the dinner table with familiar, rustic dishes from their homeland, the youth expressed their respect and sincere affection for their mothers. Through this activity, they contributed to fostering love for their homeland and a sense of preserving revolutionary traditions among the youth union members. At the same time, in many localities, youth union branches also implemented "Meals of Compassion" for elderly people living alone and children in difficult circumstances, affirming the pioneering spirit of the youth in social welfare work.
Family meals have long been an indispensable cultural feature in the spiritual life of Vietnamese people. In the context of modern life with many pressures from work and study, these family meals have become more precious than ever.
Responding to the "Family Meal - Strengthening Love" program, Ms. Kien Thi Khanh Nga , a member of the Youth Union branch at Thanh Son Primary School (Tra Cu commune), said: "The family meal is an important occasion for family members to better understand, care for, and nurture their feelings. It's a time for everyone to sit together, share daily stories, and create a sacred bond between generations."
Student Kim Hoang Gia Phu (10A1 class, Tran Van Long High School) shared: "Happiness is simply returning home after a day of studying, gathering around the dinner table, and feeling the love from my dearest family members. These meals help family members bond more closely, creating a relaxed atmosphere for better studying." Similarly, student Nguyen Thanh Thai maintains the daily tradition of gathering around the dinner table with his grandmother and siblings. For Thai, family meals are a simple yet sacred value, a solid source of emotional support.
Family meals are a source of nourishment for the soul, helping to preserve the beautiful traditional values of the nation through many generations. Maintaining and cherishing moments of togetherness around the dinner table is the foundation for building a happy and lasting family, creating a strong motivation for each individual to strive in life.
The activities of the province's youth in response to Vietnam Family Day have made a positive contribution to educating young people on ethics and lifestyle, and building cultural family standards in the new era. Through practical and concrete actions, the Youth Union has affirmed its role in accompanying young people in cultivating humanistic values, contributing to building a better society starting from each family.
