Music tells stories that connect

(VHXQ) - Music is a way for young people in the city to tell their stories to the world, giving them the opportunity to step out of their comfort zone, mature in both skills and thinking, and reach for good goals.

Spread your personal values

At the Young Artist Friendship Festival - YAFF Da Nang 2025, which took place in June, there was a young person who made a special impression on me.

As a performer, MC, and stage coordinator, connecting more than 300 young artists with famous artists and music teachers from 11 countries and territories around the world, Hugo Sanchez Barroso Nguyen stood on stage with confidence, courage, and shined in the way Hugo had cultivated.

Born in Spain, at the age of 4, Hugo and his family moved to Da Nang to live. This was also the time when Hugo began pursuing a professional piano career. To date, Hugo Sanchez Barroso Nguyen has achieved many remarkable achievements (Third prize in the Piano solo category at the International Student Competition in North Carolina, USA, First prize at the IMPAF 2024 Competition in Bali, Indonesia...).

Hugo said that on his journey to participate in competitions or perform in many countries around the world , the thing this young man is most proud of is being able to share his own values through music. These values were formed and nurtured over many years of living and receiving the rich culture and art of the Vietnamese people.

“In the context of globalization, young artists are not only performers but also cultural ambassadors. Music helps young people create and spread deep-rooted values of connection, from a shared passion for art to shared emotions, a shared spirit of integration, forming a civilized, modern, profound and mutually resonant young community that develops and prospers together,” Hugo expressed.

Always having an open mind and seizing all opportunities is how Hugo positioned himself for his development path. And then opportunities followed one another, small ones opening up bigger ones.

Hugo said: “The path of music helps me discover myself, connect with myself, with the world and with many great and beautiful things. Like the way I found the opportunity to participate in the forum of young global leaders when performing at a music event in Thailand, the way music leads me to many interesting roles such as event organization, marketing, logistics, English teacher, drama teacher and meet many precious friends and teachers...”.

Global Connected Space

YAFF Da Nang 2025 is a playground with the mission of connecting young global artistic talents in a multicultural exchange space, co-organized by Youth Ambassadors Singapore and Mun Art Academy Da Nang, with the sponsorship of many prestigious regional educational and art organizations.

This is a space where young artists from many countries can share their personal stories, creative inspirations, and the characteristics of their home cultures. Through performances and workshops, they not only improve their professional skills but also learn to understand and respect cultural diversity.

International artist Hang Nguyen - Artistic Director of Mun Art Academy is the one who brought YAFF to Da Nang and holds the role of general director of the program. She has devoted her entire musical journey to nurturing young talents and persistently proving that music is not only art but also a tool to connect people and cultures.

Music is not only about technique but also about emotion, removing all barriers. At YAFF 2025, a group of artists from Vietnam and Singapore performed a combination of traditional instruments such as the zither, the pipa and the piano, creating a unique performance that is both modern and traditional. This experience helped them realize the great value of music in connecting and resonating. They not only learned how to play music but also learned how to listen and respect each other's stories. That is the core value of cultural exchange.

Improving the quality of community art and leading young artists of Da Nang to the world is the desire of the organizers. “With the reputation of being a “livable city” and the cultural and tourist center of the Central region, Da Nang has great potential to open up an ideal space for young artists to learn, exchange and shine with the global art and music community,” Ms. Hang Nguyen emphasized.
