The Huu Boc Village Drum Dance Team was established for the very simple reason that the village had more cultural activities to improve the cultural life of the people. According to village chief Le Thanh Oai, the sound of festival drums has appeared in the village for a long time during festivals. However, at that time, drumming had not yet become a special art of the village. When the village had a son who was an actor of Thanh Hoa Tuong Art Troupe (now belonging to Thanh Hoa Traditional Art Theater) exchanging ideas and reaching agreement with the village chief, the village's drum team was established and he was the leader of the village. preacher.
Accordingly, Huu Boc village's drum dance team was established in 2010, consisting of 5 men and 10 women, men holding female drums and women holding baby drums. Farmers who used to be only used to plows and hoes now have to practice holding drums and making sounds according to rhythm and methodically, it is not easy. With the festival drum, the player in addition to the song must also know how to perform, combine drum sounds, rhythm with dance to make the drum dance become lively and attractive. In the early days of practice, the members faced many difficulties because they were all middle-aged, slow to absorb, the other part was the drum dances with many segments, if not remembered, it can easily lead to wrong rhythm and chaos.
At that time, every evening, the communal house of Huu Boc village was bustling and joyful, the drums rehearsed and the villagers came to watch and cheer in large numbers. Although, at that time, the drum practice was still erratic and chaotic, but because of love, that sound kept growing in the hearts of each member of the drum team in particular and the people of Huu Boc village in general. Since then, they have joined hands to buy training equipment, encourage and create conditions for each other to perfect their workouts.
Le Thi Dung, a member of the drum team shared: “Learning to play drums is not difficult but requires perseverance. Normally, people hold a drumstick at one end and hit the drum with the other end, but when performing, the performer takes it in the middle of the stick, hitting both ends, creating an attractive sound. In addition, there is a "conductor" with a whistle and a pennant to control the whole thing so that the drums of the festival are mixed with the flexible and rhythmic dances of the performers.
Mr. Oai and 15 members will forever remember the first performance at the 2010 festival. He said: That year the village was a festival site in the district, with many guests. The festival was opened with a special drum performance, all guests and people were convinced by the professionalism and uniqueness from the attractiveness of the drum art to the lineup, team... presented. performed by farmers. The sound of the festival drums urges people's hearts, the drum sounds like the heart, contributing to the success of the festival.
The performance was successful beyond expectations, echoing the drums of Huu Boc village festival not only made an impression in the commune, becoming a "poisonous goods" of the district, but also made a great resonance in other districts and towns. After that, the drum team is regularly invited to perform, attend major programs and events of the district and the province and interact with other art clubs.
“Being able to bring the drums of Huu Boc village to participate in many big events of the province and the country, I and everyone feel proud and excited. Although the art of drum dance has only been associated with the village for 12 years, the drum sound shows the desire and pride of the villagers in the village. The village's drum dance team is helping to spread good cultural values closer to everyone," said Mr. Oai.
Having created their own culture, the people of Huu Boc village are more conscious and responsible in preserving and promoting this value. The proof is that the drum dance team has never been short of people, who know how to beat and perform the drums not only in 15 members, but most of the middle-aged and elderly people in the village can beat the rhythm properly. The teaching takes place regularly in the communal house, especially during the festival season when many young people come to study.
Vice Chairman of Dong Ninh Commune People's Committee Le Thi Thuy said: "The birth of Huu Boc village's drum dance team has enriched the spiritual life of the people, creating a healthy community cultural atmosphere. contribute to improving the spirit of community solidarity, promoting individual capacity. Thanks to the creative spirit, the drum sound has become a unique cultural feature of the village. This beauty has been and is being learned and followed by other villages in the commune.
