Amazon officially discontinues the Kindle Oasis e-reader.

Amazon has officially discontinued the Kindle Oasis, a popular e-reader model, to make way for the company's new product line.

Amazon has confirmed it will discontinue the Kindle Oasis, the last Kindle e-reader with physical buttons. This announcement comes shortly after the launch of the Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition, the first Kindle with a color screen.

This isn't too surprising, given that the Kindle Oasis has been on the market for over eight years. What's surprising is that many users are still using this e-reader. On Reddit, there's an entire discussion thread where Kindle Oasis users express their love for this e-reader.

Speaking to The Verge, Amazon representative Devon Corvasce said: "Once the Kindle Oasis inventory is sold out, we will not be restocking it. Currently, all of our devices prioritize touch functionality, which is what our customers are used to."

Currently, the Kindle Oasis is no longer available for purchase on Amazon, with a "product not currently available" message, and this status may remain unchanged until stocks run out. This e-reader model may be completely removed from Amazon's website in the next few months.

After its initial launch in 2016, the Kindle Oasis received two updates in 2017 and 2019. Since then, Amazon has focused on releasing touchscreen Kindle models, making the Oasis seem outdated.

However, many users still hope Amazon will retain at least one Kindle model with physical buttons in its product catalog, as many users prefer the Kindle Oasis to the newer, touchscreen-only models.
