Housing for low-income workers

(Baothanhhoa.vn) - Thanh Hoa is a densely populated province with a high rate of urbanization, rapidly developing industry and commerce, attracting a large number of young workers. To help low-income earners settle down and establish their careers, the province has made efforts to attract investment in affordable social housing projects and support workers in obtaining loans to build homes.

With the current income levels of many people, buying affordable social housing with loan support will help them have stable housing and peace of mind to work. Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong, an employee at Co.opmart Thanh Hoa supermarket , currently living in the social housing complex in Quang Thang ward, shared: "Social housing loans not only offer preferential interest rates but also long repayment periods, reducing the pressure of repayment. When customers face financial difficulties, the bank provides timely support, and there are no fees for early repayment – ​​these are the 'plus points' of this credit program. For workers with limited salaries like us, it would be very difficult to buy a house without social housing loans. After stabilizing our lives, we realize that the cost of renting is roughly the same as the monthly bank loan payments, while we own property and our children live in a good environment."

According to the "Investment in the construction of at least 1 million social housing units for low-income earners and industrial zone workers in the period 2021-2030" project, Thanh Hoa province must complete at least 13,787 units. Of these, Phase 1 (2021-2025) will complete 6,287 units, and Phase 2 (2026-2030) will complete 7,500 units. Currently, the province has 13 projects underway and 14 projects in the process of selecting new investors. These days, visiting the Happy Home Thanh Hoa social housing project (Hac Thanh ward), invested by Vingroup , we witnessed the active work atmosphere of the construction workers. This project has a total area of ​​91,891.6 m2, comprising 18 buildings with an expected total of 2,824 apartments built on 6 social housing plots. The project features a comprehensive and modern transportation system, green spaces, sports and recreation areas, parking lots, and technical infrastructure. This is one of the key projects, expected to help alleviate housing pressure for low-income residents and lay the groundwork for completing the urban infrastructure network, improving the quality of life for residents. Upon completion, the project will meet the housing needs of thousands of workers and laborers.

In collaboration with local authorities in implementing housing projects in the area, the Social Policy Bank - Thanh Hoa Provincial Branch (NHCSXH Thanh Hoa) is continuing to promote its social housing loan program. Currently, the maximum loan amount is 1 billion VND. This helps customers access more capital, providing them with sufficient resources to realize their dream of "settling down and establishing a career". The program will create financial leverage for officials, civil servants, employees, especially low-income earners, to access housing policies...

With an initial down payment of approximately 150 million VND, homebuyers receive the remaining amount through preferential loans from the Thanh Hoa branch of the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies (NHCSXH) with stable interest rates and a maximum loan term of 25 years. Mr. Cao Nam Hung's family in Hoang Hoa commune, currently living in their new home thanks to this meaningful policy credit program, shared: “Thanks to the 500 million VND loan from the program, my family has been able to build a solid house, replacing our old, dilapidated one. This helps us stabilize our lives and focus on our work.”

Social housing development policies and preferential loan programs for low-income earners are being implemented synchronously and effectively, promising to contribute to opening doors and creating conditions for low-income workers and laborers to realize their dreams of owning a home and stabilizing their lives. Currently, the Thanh Hoa branch of the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies is continuing to coordinate with departments, agencies, and localities to strengthen communication so that people understand the policies.
