burst of joy
“Having a house now, I can work with peace of mind, take care of my two children’s education, and no longer worry about storms. My family owes the union a lot,” said Trinh Quang Hoa in Hung Phuoc commune, Bu Dop district, unable to hide his emotions at the ceremony to present the Great Unity House on April 25.
Officials of the Provincial Labor Federation surveyed the actual situation of poor workers living in temporary housing to include them in the list of support for great solidarity houses in 2025.
The program "Union Shelter" has helped Mr. Tran Van Phuoc's family (Dong Xoai City) have a solid and spacious house.
The story of Mr. Hoa's dire circumstances also brought tears to the hearts of many members attending the house donation ceremony that day. Mr. Hoa said that in 2020, he and his wife divorced, his wife left, leaving him with two school-age daughters. Misfortunes never come singly, he also suffered from severe asthma, and could only apply for a job as a security guard for a company near his home, with an income of more than 3 million VND/month. For many years, Mr. Hoa and his three children had to struggle to live in a rented house with a corrugated iron roof and rotten wooden walls.
Immediately after the survey according to the local poverty criteria, in early 2025, the Bu Dop District Labor Federation mobilized Mr. Hoa's family members to donate 50 square meters of residential land to him . At the same time, it made a request to the Provincial Labor Federation to support the removal of temporary and dilapidated houses for union members. Mr. Hoa's profile was received by the Provincial Labor Federation and mobilized the Binh Phuoc Province Lottery and General Services Company Limited to support 80 million VND.
Welcoming the delegation of leaders from Dong Xoai City Trade Union to supervise and inspect the final stages of preparation for the handover ceremony of the "Union Shelter", Mr. Tran Van Phuoc from Tan Binh Ward Trade Union, Dong Xoai City said: Due to bad luck in business, my family no longer has a house, having to rent here and there. Thanks to 50 million VND from the trade union's social fund, along with the help of brothers and friends, my family has recently rebuilt a spacious shelter, with an area of 105m2 , total cost of 160 million VND. There is truly nothing happier than having a shelter to feel secure in old age. This is the motivation that urges me to be more exemplary and responsible in my work and contribute to building the movement in the residential area.
Groundbreaking ceremony and handover of funds to build solidarity houses for 5 working families with housing difficulties. All funds were mobilized by the Provincial Labor Federation and sponsored by Binh Phuoc Province Lottery and General Services Company Limited.
The “Union Shelter” program also reached a single mother, Ms. Do Thi Huong, in Thanh Son Hamlet, Thanh Binh Town, Bu Dop District. Her family’s main source of income is only a few dozen pepper poles, but they have all died due to pests. Meals are still lacking, so how can she dare to dream of replacing the rotten wooden house with a solid, spacious one. Or like Ms. Thi Ha’s family in Hamlet 2, Loc An Commune, Loc Ninh District, who is living in a temporary hut of only a few dozen square meters…
Each house is a story, a situation associated with difficulties, illness, and misfortune. It is the spacious homes from the union’s arms that have become a solid “lever” to help union members rise up, build trust and hope to escape poverty.
Spread the love
Building houses for union members and workers is one of the social security activities of Binh Phuoc Trade Union. From the beginning of 2025, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Federation of Labor has directed and guided grassroots trade unions at all levels to grasp and survey the housing situation, life, and income of union members and workers to have a plan to support the construction of "Union Shelters" from social funds contributed by union members themselves. The support level is 20 million VND/case of repair and 50 million VND/case of new construction. As a result, 6 "Union Shelters" houses were awarded to union members in difficult housing circumstances, with a total value of 265 million VND.

Great Unity House - where the dream of settling down for two poor working families in Loc An commune, Loc Ninh district has come true
Along with social funds, trade unions at all levels have also proactively mobilized businesses, partners, and philanthropists to join the program. A typical example is the Binh Phuoc Provincial Lottery and General Services Company Limited, which has just awarded 5 solidarity houses to workers and laborers with housing difficulties in Loc Ninh and Bu Dop districts, with a total of 400 million VND. "Choosing the trade union as the coordinating unit to entrust the solidarity houses is a trust and a desire to spread the spirit of "mutual love and support" to the right people, the right needs, contributing to the goal of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses that the Government is implementing" - said Mr. Tran Van Sang, Deputy Director of Binh Phuoc Provincial Lottery and General Services Company Limited.
The “Union Shelter” and “House of Great Solidarity” programs are social activities with far-reaching influence, demonstrating the spirit of solidarity, “mutual love and support”, “the whole leaves cover the torn leaves” and are supported by a large number of union members, workers, civil servants, employees, agencies and units in the province. With their kind gestures and kindness, the “Union Shelters” have helped many workers and laborers in difficult circumstances stabilize their lives and stay committed to their jobs for a long time.
To make the program more effective and spread its humanitarian meaning, in the coming time, the union will continue to closely coordinate with local authorities to review and expand the support objects so that every union member in difficulty can touch the dream of "settling down" and build faith in a brighter future.
