Regional specialty products
According to a report by the An Giang Provincial Office for Coordinating New Rural Development, as of November 2024, the entire province had 165 products certified with OCOP (One Commune One Product) ratings of 3 stars or higher across 11 districts, towns, and cities.
These include 2 five-star products, 3 potential five-star products, 14 four-star products, and 146 three-star products from 115 economic entities, including cooperatives, production groups, businesses, and production facilities.
Business owners are always conscious of their brand, so they constantly learn and improve on quality, diversify designs and packaging, and ensure compliance with regulations regarding traceability labels and tags.
Each product line has its own unique characteristics, such as canned snakehead fish in Long Xuyen city; fermented fish paste and puffed dried catfish in Chau Doc city; dried snakehead fish, paintings made from palm leaves, and snakehead fish sauce in Thoai Son district; and dried striped snakehead fish and ground snakehead fish paste in An Phu district…

Ms. Chau Ngoc Diu, residing in Tri Ton district, and her colleagues have successfully processed palm sugar into powdered Palmania syrup, achieving a 5-star rating using traditional methods. Ms. Chau Ngoc Diu is very happy to have preserved and promoted the traditional palm sugar syrup making craft of the Khmer ethnic group.
Ms. Chau Ngoc Diu established Palmania Joint Stock Company, specializing in the palm sugar business. Since being recognized as an OCOP product, the product has been consumed more widely both within and outside the province, and has even been exported to Finland. Most consumers agree that the palm sugar is fragrant and delicious.
Ms. Chau Ngoc Diu shared that Palmania palm sugar syrup is popular in the market because the company selects palm trees that are over 25 years old to extract the sap. The processing and production process follows traditional methods without the use of additives or chemicals.
Thanks to the application of modern drying systems and technology, the characteristic aroma and sweet taste of palm nectar are fully preserved in the products.
Chau Doc city has a famous and long-standing traditional fish sauce making village with hundreds of households concentrated in Nui Sam ward. Among them, Co Tu Au brand Thai fish sauce, which has achieved 3 stars, is one of the attractions that draws tourists to order and learn about the fish sauce making process.
Ms. Nguyen Kim Xuan, representative of the establishment, shared that "Co Tu Au" fish sauce started in 1948 and to this day the family still maintains the traditional method and brand, with the fish sauce being widely consumed both within and outside the province...

Mr. Nguyen Si Lam, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of An Giang province and Chief of the Provincial Rural Coordination Office, informed that many OCOP products are available in supermarkets, shopping malls, and markets inside and outside the province.
The Provincial Rural Development Coordination Office has supported businesses with procedures, documentation, and improvements and development of designs and packaging in accordance with regulations and market demands.

In particular, it helps them improve the quality and value of their products, enhance promotion and trade facilitation, and connect their products to potential markets.
The focus of An Giang province's OCOP program is the development of agricultural, non-agricultural, and service products with advantages in each locality along the value chain, implemented by private and collective economic entities.
This helps businesses leverage their strengths and further develop traditional crafts, update and apply technology in processing to improve skills, and meet the diverse tastes and preferences of different regions and foreign tourists.
Therefore, developing production in rural areas contributes to the industrialization and modernization of agriculture and rural areas; promotes a rational shift in the rural labor structure; protects the environment; and preserves the fine traditional values of Vietnamese rural areas.
According to Mr. Le Trung Hieu, Director of the An Giang Provincial Trade and Investment Promotion Center, in order to support businesses and households selling OCOP products in the province to diversify their distribution channels, the center has collaborated with Phan Nam Company in An Giang to introduce OCOP products into a chain of safe agricultural product stores.
Mr. Le Trung Hieu added that this is one of many activities the center carries out to support the diversification of distribution channels and markets for OCOP products.
