In the first 6 months of the year, with the efforts of all levels, sectors and localities, the province's GRDP growth is estimated at 8.51%. Of which, the agriculture, forestry and fishery sector increased by 4.16%, contributing 16.40% to the overall growth; the industry and construction sector increased by 11.56%, contributing 22.36% to the overall growth; the service sector increased by 10.82%, contributing 58.40% to the overall growth; product taxes minus product subsidies increased by 6%, contributing 2.84% to the overall growth. The main economic indicators all maintained high growth compared to the same period in 2024. The total import-export turnover of goods in the first 6 months is estimated at 933 million USD, up 24% over the same period; State budget revenue from local economy in 6 months was 4,675 billion VND, reaching 60.87% of the estimate assigned by the Provincial People's Council and 54.81% of the target assigned by the Provincial People's Committee.
Since the beginning of the year, An Giang tourism has welcomed about 7.1 million visitors, of which international visitors are estimated at 17,000, an increase of 21% over the same period in 2024; revenue from tourism activities is estimated at VND 8,400 billion. Social security work has been implemented promptly, for the right subjects, in the right regime and with innovation. To date, An Giang has completed 100% of the target of building and repairing houses for people with revolutionary contributions and poor and near-poor households in the province, with 3,135 houses.
Attending and directing the conference to review the socio-economic situation in the first 6 months of the year and the direction and tasks for the last 6 months of 2025, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the An Giang Provincial Party Committee Le Hong Quang praised the Provincial People's Committee, sectors and localities for their efforts to fulfill the socio-economic development tasks in the first 6 months of the year. At the same time, he emphasized that when the commune-level government apparatus and the new An Giang province officially come into operation, it will pose a huge task. To stably operate the 2-level local government apparatus, An Giang at present and An Giang after the merger need to promote socio-economic development. Focus on the tasks of arranging and stably operating the 2-level government model after the merger, not leaving any vacancies or interrupting any activities serving the people and businesses.
Accordingly, it is necessary to complete the political report to be submitted to the An Giang Provincial Party Congress (new) and the socio-economic development plan for the period 2026 - 2030 to ensure quality, breakthroughs, and innovation to lead, direct, operate, and guide the economy in the coming period. Focus maximum resources to complete the synchronous and modern infrastructure system; ensure the progress of highway projects, large urban infrastructure, and digital transformation infrastructure. Urgently update and adjust the planning of An Giang province after the merger according to the new viewpoints, orientations, and goals of the province. Continue to improve the business environment, promote investment attraction, and remove difficulties for businesses to unlock resources and promote growth. Continue to firmly ensure security and order, especially maintain defense in border areas, and avoid being passive and surprised.
To achieve the economic growth target of 8.5% as directed by the Prime Minister and the determination to strive for 10% economic growth as planned by the Provincial People's Committee, Chairman of the An Giang Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Mung requested departments, branches and localities to focus on solutions to promote economic growth, attract investment and support production and business. In particular, it is necessary to review the economic development management scenario from now until the end of the year, study and supplement more drastic and effective solutions; speed up the implementation of key programs and disbursement of public investment capital. Regularly inspect and promptly remove difficulties in the supply, transportation and assembly of materials; speed up the implementation of the Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang expressway project through An Giang province and other key projects of the province.
