Amidst the focus on streamlining and reorganizing the two-tiered local government structure as directed by the Central Government, An Giang continues to strive for accelerated growth and breakthroughs to achieve the targets set by the Politburo and the Government.

The conference reviewed and assessed the socio-economic situation in the first six months of the year and outlined directions and tasks for the last six months of 2025.

In the first six months of the year, thanks to the efforts of all levels, sectors, and localities, the province's GRDP growth is estimated at 8.51%. Specifically, the agriculture, forestry, and fisheries sector increased by 4.16%, contributing 16.40% to overall growth; the industry and construction sector increased by 11.56%, contributing 22.36%; the service sector increased by 10.82%, contributing 58.40%; and product taxes less product subsidies increased by 6%, contributing 2.84% to overall growth. Key economic indicators maintained high growth rates compared to the same period in 2024. The total value of goods exports and imports in the first six months is estimated at 933 million USD, an increase of 24% compared to the same period. State budget revenue from the local economy in the first six months reached 4,675 billion VND, achieving 60.87% of the provincial People's Council's projected target and 54.81% of the provincial People's Committee's target.

From the beginning of the year until now, An Giang province has welcomed approximately 7.1 million visitors, including an estimated 17,000 international tourists, a 21% increase compared to the same period in 2024; revenue from tourism activities is estimated at 8,400 billion VND. Social welfare work has been implemented promptly, targeting the right beneficiaries, according to regulations, and with innovative approaches. To date, An Giang has completed 100% of the target for building and repairing houses for those who have rendered meritorious services to the revolution and poor and near-poor households in the province, with 3,135 houses.

Attending and directing the Conference to review the socio-economic situation in the first six months of 2025 and the direction and tasks for the last six months of 2025, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Secretary of the An Giang Provincial Party Committee, Le Hong Quang, praised the Provincial People's Committee, departments, and localities for their efforts in successfully implementing socio-economic development tasks in the first six months of the year. He also emphasized that the official operation of the new An Giang provincial and commune-level government apparatus will present significant challenges. To ensure the stable operation of the two-tiered local government system, both An Giang now and after the merger, it is necessary to accelerate socio-economic development. Focus should be placed on the tasks of arranging and stabilizing the two-tiered government model after the merger, ensuring no gaps are left and that all activities serving the people and businesses are not disrupted.

Accordingly, it is necessary to finalize the political report to be presented at the An Giang Provincial Party Congress (new) and the socio-economic development plan for the period 2026-2030, ensuring quality, breakthroughs, and innovation to lead, direct, and guide the economy in the coming period. Maximize resources to complete a synchronous and modern infrastructure system; ensure the progress of expressway projects, major urban infrastructure, and digital transformation infrastructure. Expeditiously update and adjust the An Giang provincial planning after the merger according to the province's new perspectives, orientations, and goals. Continue to improve the business environment, promote investment attraction, and remove difficulties for businesses to unlock resources and promote growth. Continue to firmly ensure security and order, especially maintaining border defense, preventing any passive or unexpected situations.

To achieve the 8.5% economic growth target as directed by the Prime Minister and to strive for a 10% economic growth target as planned by the Provincial People's Committee, the Chairman of the An Giang Provincial People's Committee, Ho Van Mung, requested that departments, agencies, and localities focus on solutions to promote economic growth, attract investment, and support production and business. Specifically, it is necessary to review the economic development management plan from now until the end of the year, research and add more decisive and effective solutions; accelerate the implementation of key programs and the disbursement of public investment capital. Regularly inspect and promptly resolve difficulties in the supply, transportation, and stockpiling of materials; and accelerate the implementation of the Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang expressway project section through An Giang province and other key projects of the province.

Chairman of the An Giang Provincial People's Committee, Ho Van Mung, emphasized that in the coming time, the Provincial People's Committee will continue to strengthen the fight against corruption, negative practices, and waste; effectively implement the overall administrative reform program; and promote digital transformation. It will enhance the sense of responsibility, determination, and exemplary conduct of leaders; build a style and attitude of serving the people among cadres, civil servants, and public employees; and consolidate state administrative discipline. At the same time, it will focus on social welfare, improving the material, spiritual, and health lives of the people. It will continue to pay attention to the preservation, restoration, and promotion of the tangible and intangible cultural heritage values ​​of ethnic groups. It will continue to build and strengthen a strong national defense; and enhance security, order, and social safety…
