Homeland is a source of creativity.
Meritorious Artist and Director Nguyen Van Luong was born and raised in Hai Phong . His boundless inspiration from his homeland and its islands led him to become a record-breaker in filmmaking about the sea and islands. From 1988 to the present, he has directed 223 television series on the theme of Vietnam's land, people, and islands. From 2012 to 2015, he was recognized by the Vietnam Record Organization (Vietkings), the Asia Record Organization, and the World Record Alliance for setting records in Vietnam, Asia, and the world; and was awarded an honorary doctorate by the World Record University. Most recently, the Vietkings Advisory Council selected him as a pioneer of Vietnamese cinema.
Among the 223 films, many feature films made a strong impression and attracted viewers, such as: "Cat Ba, My Love," "The Sesame," "Legend of Autumn," "Tears of the Sea," "Love Story on Cat Island," etc., all inspired by the pearl island of Cat Ba. Each film tells the story of people born and raised by the sea. In particular, the 20-episode series "The Eye of the Storm" reflects the tragic and heroic past of the Vietnamese people in general and the coastal people of Hai Phong in particular during the war years.
The "perfect match" of the Navy musician.

War is long over, and today Hai Phong not only boasts strengths in its maritime and island resources but also possesses many advantages in socio -economic development. This charming land captivates even those who were not born and raised here. The "fated connection" between Lieutenant Colonel and musician Nguyen Xuan Binh, Deputy Head of the Naval Performing Arts Troupe, and Hai Phong is a prime example.
That love has been romanticized into a collection of 15 songs he composed specifically for Hai Phong. His songs frequently appear at events and on stages in the port city. “I have lived and been connected to this land for 21 years, and I am proud to be a Hai Phong native, to eat and drink here. For those same 21 years, I have developed feelings and understanding of the land and people of Hai Phong: they are boisterous, generous, and have a very unique character. I love Hai Phong. These songs are not only my spiritual children but also the emotions I want to convey, a tribute to this land,” shared musician Xuan Binh.
The song "I - A Hai Phong Resident" by composer Xuan Binh, with its simple and heartfelt lyrics, has a powerful emotional impact. With its beautiful and captivating melodies, the song touches the heart from the very first notes. "I - A Hai Phong Resident" by Xuan Binh "paints" the "invisible within the visible," which is the character of the people of Hai Phong.
At the 2018 Red Phoenix Flower Festival, singer Pham Anh Khoa performed the song "I - a Hai Phong native," captivating millions of viewers across the country. Since then, every May, the song is frequently heard throughout the streets of Hai Phong.
Deeply attached to their port city, the people of Hai Phong have proudly contributed to its development in their own unique ways.
