Impressions of the Tam Ky Sea Festival

Visually stunning and impressive.

True to its slogan "Tam Ky - Come and Explore," the Tam Ky Sea Festival 2024 (held from June 14th to 30th) offered locals and tourists many new and unique events and activities.

For the first time at Tam Thanh beach, the Carnival festival and the "Larue Beer Music Festival" program stirred up the summer atmosphere.

In particular, the drone performance painted a colorful picture of light in the sky over Tam Thanh, creating incredibly impressive images and providing a fascinating experience.

These are familiar images to the people of Quang Nam province, such as Tam Thanh beach, An Ha hill, Tam Thanh mural village, or the tourism brands of Quang Nam province like Hoi An ancient town, My Son, the specialty Bai Choi folk singing, and delicious Quang Nam noodles…

A local resident shared that this was the first time they had witnessed such unique sights right in Tam Thanh, and they felt very proud that the locality was developing and becoming more well-known.

According to Mr. Nguyen Minh Nam, Permanent Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Tam Ky City, the Tam Ky Sea Festival 2024 will continue to introduce and promote the value, resources, and tourism products of Tam Ky to visitors from near and far; contributing to promoting and attracting investment, creating momentum for socio -economic and cultural development.

Over the years, the Party Committee, government, and people of Tam Ky city have been determined to build Tam Ky into a city rich in identity, associated with the development of cultural, historical, ecological, and experiential tourism, based on its natural landscape, cultural values, and community; an attractive and hospitable destination.

Typical examples include the Monument to the Heroic Vietnamese Mother; the Ky Anh Tunnel National Historical Site; Bai Say - Song Dam, Tam Thanh Mural Village, Tam Thanh Beach...

Kite-flying performances were also a highlight of this year's Tam Ky beach festival, presented by members from the Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City Kite Clubs, attracting thousands of spectators. Kites soaring in the wind over Tam Thanh beach created poetic and exciting scenes for both children and adults.

According to Mr. Nguyen Phu Quoc, Chairman of the Da Nang Kite Club, the spacious Tam Thanh beach is an extremely favorable condition for kite flying performances, and he hopes that in the future, Tam Ky will develop further so that kite clubs from many places across the country can come to perform for the people during the festival season.

Although not new, the sports activities within the framework of the Tam Ky Sea Festival 2024 also have many unique and attractive features, drawing a large number of viewers.

This is the traditional Quang Nam Table Tennis Tournament, organized by the city in coordination with the Quang Nam Provincial Table Tennis Federation, bringing together many players from localities inside and outside the province; and the expanded martial arts arena of the Quang Nam Provincial Traditional Martial Arts Clubs at 24/3 Square.

In addition, several amateur sports events made a strong impression on the audience, such as swimming competitions, traditional basket boat races on the sea; and the "Tam Thanh with AIA - Welcoming a New Day" Olympic Run for Community Health...

Promoting products "made in Tam Ky"

The event aims to develop tourism and create livelihoods for the people. Therefore, in addition to cultural, artistic, and sporting activities, the Tam Ky Sea Festival 2024 is also an opportunity to promote and introduce "made in Tam Ky" products with distinctive elements of the local traditional craft villages.

During the festival days, despite their modest scale, the OCOP product stalls on Tam Thanh beach were a popular destination for tourists to visit and shop.

Anchovy fish sauce, dried anchovies, dried shrimp, dried scad, braised squid… are products that embody the coastal charm of Tam Thanh, gradually building a brand and spreading beyond the province.

Clearly, this is a valuable opportunity for local products to reach the people of Tam Ky as well as tourists from within and outside the province. At the same time, it helps tourists learn that Tam Thanh, Tam Ky, not only has clear blue seas and cool rivers, but also attractive traditional specialties.

The Tam Ky Sea Festival 2024 took place almost simultaneously with the National Phu Dong Sports Festival Region III hosted by Quang Nam province; Tam Ky was the main venue for organizing the competitions, with thousands of athletes and coaches staying, training, and competing.

Thanks to favorable conditions, the festival also attracted a significant number of athletes and coaches from various provinces and cities. Nguyen Binh (an official from the Thanh Hoa provincial team) shared that he heard about the Tam Ky beach festival and took the time to visit, finding it quite impressive.

"Like Sam Son beach in Thanh Hoa, my hometown, Tam Thanh beach is quite beautiful, and it's crowded with tourists swimming. Activities at the festival like kite flying or basket boat riding are also quite interesting."

"I also visited and bought some traditional local craft products displayed at the festival to bring back as gifts for my relatives during my business trip to Quang Nam," said Mr. Binh.
