In Tam Coc in early June, the rice is in its peak season, ripening to a vibrant golden color, and the most striking feature is the carp-shaped sculpture playing in the moonlight on a vast field of nearly 10,000 square meters.

In the mountain valleys and along the banks of the Ngo Dong River in Tam Coc, the color yellow is the dominant hue.
This year, Ninh Binh province's tourism industry has created a giant folk painting depicting "Carp Gazing at the Moon" in a rice field to attract tourists . Between the two fish is a depiction of lotus flowers, with rippling water below.

Mr. Hoang Thanh Phong, Director of Tam Coc - Bich Dong Tourist Area, said that to create the mural, farmers from Ninh Hai commune, Hoa Lu district, worked with experts to carefully calculate the planting time, prepare the land, and shape the sculptures. Through the mural, the local people pray for a year of national peace and prosperity, favorable weather, and a bountiful harvest.

Every day, the Tam Coc - Bich Dong tourist area welcomes thousands of visitors who enjoy boat rides to admire the ripening rice fields and explore the cave system.

Tam Coc is busiest on weekends. At times, the Ngo Dong River is packed with boats carrying tourists.

Tam Coc rice fields have been recognized as one of the five most beautiful rice fields in Vietnam. "We aspire to make the 'Golden Tam Coc' a recognizable brand for Ninh Binh tourism," said Hoang Thanh Phong, Director of Tam Coc - Bich Dong Tourist Area.
About one kilometer from the "Carp Gazing at the Moon" painting is Mua Cave - a popular check-in spot favored by young people. At the foot of the mountain, a large lotus flower is formed in the field.

Around the Tam Coc - Bich Dong area, there are many other golden rice fields interspersed with residential areas and tourist attractions.

Farmers in Hoa Lu are scattered across the Tam Coc valleys, harvesting ripe rice. The 2023 Tam Coc - Trang An Golden Colors Tourism Week runs until June 4th, when the rice harvest season ends.

Foreign tourists enjoyed the boat tour of Tam Coc. "The scenery and atmosphere here are very impressive, with their pristine yet majestic beauty," shared Antony, a tourist from Spain.

At the stops along the Tam Coc tour route, the organizers arrange for traditional art troupes to perform for tourists free of charge.

Ninh Binh expects to welcome 100,000 visitors to Tam Coc in 2023 and approximately 400,000 visitors throughout the province during the tourism week.
