English: Stable economic development with organic fertilizer making

Coming to Mr. Ngu’s house, we were introduced to the warehouses located right in front and on the side of the house. With different areas, each warehouse is used for different stages to create organic fertilizer products. He said: “Currently, the two types of organic fertilizer I produce are bagged dry cow manure and compost. These are all types of organic fertilizers that are popular in the market to make the soil loose and rich in nutrients.”

In the warehouse, stacks of organic fertilizer bags are arranged neatly and tidily. In another warehouse, piles of composted organic fertilizer are waiting to be packaged for wholesale customers. With a regular rotation like this, the organic fertilizer making job brings both income and joy after days of Mr. Ngu's tireless efforts.

Since he was a child, Mr. Ngu's eyesight was weaker than normal. By the time he was in 7th grade, his eyesight had completely gone and he could no longer recognize letters, so his education was interrupted.

Later, with the companionship and encouragement of people in the same situation at the Association for the Blind (HNM), Mr. Ngu gradually overcame his inferiority complex. He confided: “I understand that I am luckier than many people - those who have completely lost their sight. Although they face difficulties, they still rise up with many different jobs, becoming useful people. I both admire and use that as motivation, trying not to become a burden on the family.”

Overcoming barriers, Mr. Ngu struggled with many jobs to support himself. From fattening buffaloes and cows to raising shrimp, crabs and fish. In addition, he also tried his hand at selling HNM handicrafts. However, life was still not abundant. When many people trusted him and Mr. Ngu became the Head of the Association for the Blind in Huong Phong Commune, his family's life also started to turn a new page.

He said: “Through the trips and sharing with blind members, I got involved in the organic fertilizer business. When visiting the families of members, I realized that many people wanted to buy and use organic fertilizer to grow ornamental plants, vegetables, and fruit trees, but had not yet found a suitable source of fertilizer. I thought that my business opportunity had come. So, by researching, learning, and experimenting with different methods, I gradually succeeded and expanded the scale to where I am now.”

Lacking experience, he learned, and with little capital, he boldly borrowed from the National Fund for the Central HNM channel to buy input materials. Dare to think, dare to do and make it "ripe", bags of quality organic fertilizer were born from his determination and quickly became known and favored by many customers.

Currently, on average, he composts 10 batches of microbial organic fertilizers each year, each batch is 15 tons. Each year, after deducting expenses, he sells the organic fertilizers on the market for a profit of more than 130 million VND. The stable income helps Mr. Ngu gradually improve his quality of life, creating a happy and fulfilling family. Not only that, he also creates seasonal jobs for some local workers.

Commenting on Mr. Ngu, Mr. Phan Van Quoc, Chairman of the Hue City Association of Blind People , said: “As one of the examples of visually impaired people using loans effectively from the Hue City Association of Blind People, Mr. Nguyen Van Ngu is both a typical example in production activities and enthusiastically contributes to the local association movement.”
