Driving forces for economic development
In recent years, the movement to cultivate and care for Hue apricot blossoms has flourished in many localities of the city, with Quang Dien commune being one of the bright spots, boasting many members passionate about and dedicated to the ornamental apricot blossom cultivation. To help members expand their production scale, the People's Committee of Quang Dien commune and local organizations and associations, in coordination with the Social Policy Bank (NHCSXH) of Quang Dien, have implemented policy credit programs, creating conditions for people to access preferential capital. Through programs such as loans for poor and near-poor households and job creation, many members of the apricot blossom branch in the commune have received loans to invest in apricot blossom gardens, improve land, purchase seedlings, fertilizers, and irrigation systems. As a result, many households have boldly expanded their apricot blossom cultivation area, developing gardens with hundreds to thousands of trees, gradually improving economic efficiency.
Mr. Tran Ngoc Tao, one of the large-scale yellow apricot blossom growers here, said: "Thanks to the support from the government and the Farmers' Association of the commune in accessing policy credit with preferential interest rates and convenient procedures, my family has more resources to plant and care for our apricot blossom garden in a more systematic way, making a long-term investment in this high-value ornamental plant."
Similarly, Mr. Vo Chau's family, a long-time member of the Dong Xuyen Yellow Apricot Blossom Association in Quang Dien commune, said that previously, his family only planted a few dozen apricot blossom trees for Tet (Lunar New Year). However, recognizing the increasing market demand for this flower, he boldly borrowed capital from the Quang Dien branch of the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies to renovate his garden, buy more apricot blossom seedlings, and invest in a more complete tree care system. "To date, our family's apricot blossom garden has more than 500 trees, providing a fairly stable income each year…," Mr. Chau shared.
Not only Mr. Tao's and Mr. Chau's families, but many members of the Quang Dien Yellow Apricot Blossom Association, thanks to support from the government and local organizations and associations, have boldly invested in developing apricot blossom gardens after accessing policy-based credit. Apricot blossom gardens with a scale of several hundred to thousands of trees are gradually taking shape, creating a distinctive feature for the rural area along the Tam Giang lagoon.
Continue to stand alongside the people.
Mr. Tran Kim, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Dien commune, said: The movement to cultivate yellow apricot blossoms in the commune has seen many positive developments in recent years, gradually forming a concentrated apricot blossom growing area and attracting more and more people to participate. Thanks to the support of the Quang Dien branch of the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies through preferential credit programs, many households in the commune have boldly borrowed capital and invested in developing economic models, including the cultivation of yellow apricot blossoms. This is an economic development direction suitable to local conditions, contributing to increasing people's income and developing the local economy.
Over time, many members have formed groups, clubs, and associations for growing apricot blossom trees, sharing experiences in planting, caring for, and shaping these trees. As a result, apricot blossom cultivation has not only taken on cultural significance but has also become a stable source of income for many families.
Mr. Ha Van Trung, Director of the Quang Dien Branch of the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies, said: In the coming time, the Quang Dien Branch of the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies will continue to coordinate with local authorities and organizations to review loan needs, creating conditions for members of the Yellow Apricot Blossom Association in Quang Dien commune to access preferential credit programs, contributing to the sustainable development of apricot blossom cultivation, bringing economic benefits to people in the area, and at the same time contributing to the preservation and dissemination of the unique cultural value of Hue's yellow apricot blossoms.
