Fati agrees to join AS Monaco.

AS revealed that Barcelona and Monaco have reached an agreement on the transfer of Fati. The player is expected to fly to Monaco for a medical in the next few days. If he passes the medical, Fati will become a member of the Ligue 1 team.

Previously, the deal had encountered major obstacles due to financial disagreements between the two teams. Monaco was only willing to pay 40% of Fati's salary, while Barcelona, a team that is trying to reduce its salary budget, did not want to bear the difference.

With a salary of around €12 million a year, Fati is currently Barcelona's fifth highest earner, making it a financial burden to keep him. In addition, the two clubs disagree over the structure of the buyout clause.

Barcelona want to retain ownership of Fati, either through a buy-back clause or for a future transfer fee, while Monaco want an optional buy-out clause, with a price tag of around €12 million.

After negotiations, both Barcelona and Monaco made concessions to reach a final agreement. Barca will have the right to buy the player back for around 50 million euros, while Monaco will have to pay 70% of Fati's salary.

If the deal goes through, it will be a major turning point in Fati's career. He was once expected to follow in Messi's footsteps but has since suffered a setback due to injuries. Fati was also loaned to Brighton in the Premier League, but failed to make much of an impact.

A few seasons ago, Fati was the future of Barca, even valued at 80 million euros in 2021. But injuries have slowed his career. Currently, according to Transfermarkt , Fati's transfer value is only 5 million euros.
