To celebrate the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026, designer Truong Thanh Long has released a collection of traditional Vietnamese ao dai dresses inspired by the nostalgic Black Horse.
This collection is inspired by the image of the black horse – considered a symbol of persistent breakthrough.
Through his "Nostalgic Black Horse" collection, Truong Thanh Long wishes everyone a stable and lucky new year.
The ao dai designs in the collection retain the spirit of traditional ao dai. The highlight is the combination of the five-panel ao dai and the modernized ao dai, adjusted to suit today's contemporary lifestyle.
The main materials he uses include voile, lace, taffeta, corduroy, tweed… combined with hand embroidery, embellishments, ceramic buttons, and handcrafted ties, creating an aesthetically pleasing look.

When people mention designer Nam Tuyen, they immediately think of Vietnamese cultural costumes, including men's ao dai.
He designs traditional men's ao dai, five-panel ao dai, five-panel ao dai with wide sleeves, five-panel ao dai with fitted sleeves, etc.
This Tet holiday, designer Nam Tuyen introduces a five-panel ao dai (traditional Vietnamese dress) with floral patterns. The design features a traditional silhouette but with a modern, youthful feel, expressing the wish for a "blooming new year."
Additionally, there are men's ao dai with dragon motifs in a traditional style suitable for many people. Or the five-panel men's ao dai in a solid burgundy red color, conveying warmth. A special feature of this ao dai is the combination with an outer jacket made of Van Phuc silk, woven with bronze drum patterns.

Designers Vu Ngoc Tu and Dinh Truong Tung also contributed Tet ao dai designs for men. These designs are from the "Love Song" collection, which was recently showcased in Hong Kong.
The ao dai (traditional Vietnamese dress) features New Year-themed motifs, most notably the image of a pair of happy horses.
Designer Vu Ngoc Tu said that this is considered a cultural symbol. "The pair of horses evokes both good luck and prosperity, and are stylized in an East Asian Pop Art style with a strong artistic flair," he emphasized.
