Instead of holding a special event, Apple unexpectedly unveiled a new line of products quietly through an announcement on its official website. These are the first products to use the brand-new M5 chip, developed by Apple itself, offering superior performance and speed compared to the M4 chip released last year.
Apple launches MacBook Pro laptops using the M5 chip.
In terms of design, the new MacBook Pro remains unchanged from its predecessor, still featuring a 14-inch screen. Inside, it offers a minimum of 16GB of RAM or a maximum of 32GB, along with 512GB of storage or the option to upgrade to 4TB.
The product's highlight is the all-new M5 chip, featuring 10 cores (4 high-performance cores, 6 energy-efficient cores), 10 graphics cores, and a 16-core Neural Engine for handling artificial intelligence (AI) tasks.

Apple says the new M5 chip will deliver 20% faster overall performance and 1.6 times faster graphics processing compared to the previous generation chip. Memory processing bandwidth has also increased from 120GB/second to 153GB/second.
The product is equipped with four Thunderbolt ports, one HDMI port, an SD card reader slot, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a MagSafe 3 charging port, and a backlit Magic Keyboard with integrated Touch ID sensor for fingerprint unlocking.
Apple says the MacBook Pro M5 will have a battery life of 24 hours.
The product will be available for pre-order starting today and officially go on sale on October 22nd, with a starting price of $1,599 for the version equipped with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. The top-of-the-line configuration, featuring a Nano-texture anti-glare display, 32GB of RAM, 4TB of storage, and 96W fast charging, will cost $3,369.
iPad Pro with M5 chip offers more powerful performance and faster charging.
Apple also launched the new generation iPad Pro, using the M5 chip, with 10 central processing cores similar to those in the new MacBook Pro. The product is also equipped with a 16-core Neural Engine processor, enabling AI task processing up to 3.5 times faster than previous versions.
Apple says the iPad Pro M5 will offer a "tremendous" speed improvement compared to iPad models using the M1 chip.

In addition to the M5 chip, the new generation iPad Pro is also equipped with Apple's own C1X 5G modem, allowing for 50% faster cellular network connectivity compared to previous versions. The product also features the brand-new Apple-developed N1 wireless chip, supporting WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 6 connectivity.
The iPad Pro M5 will come in two screen sizes: 11 inches and 13 inches. Users can choose from 256GB to 2TB of storage. The 256GB and 512GB options come with a 9-core M5 processor and 12GB of RAM, while the 1TB and 2TB options will have 16GB of RAM and a 10-core M5 processor.
Apple says the new iPad Pro has increased storage bandwidth to 150GB/second, a 30% increase over the previous generation, and data read and write speeds are also twice as fast. The product also features 40W fast charging, allowing it to charge from 0 to 50% in just 30 minutes.
The iPad Pro M5 will be available for pre-order starting today and will officially go on sale on October 22nd. The starting price will be $999 for the 11-inch WiFi-only option, and $1,199 with the added 5G option. The 13-inch iPad Pro will start at $1,299 with WiFi only and $1,499 with 5G support.
With the highest-end option, the 11-inch iPad Pro will cost $2,099 if it's Wi-Fi only and $2,299 if it supports 5G. Similarly, the 13-inch iPad Pro will cost $2,399 and $2,599 respectively.
The Vision Pro augmented reality headset has been upgraded with the M5 chip.
Apple also unexpectedly launched an upgraded version of its Vision Pro augmented reality headset. The new product has no design changes, except for the inclusion of the brand-new M5 chip, offering faster processing speeds and longer battery life compared to the previous M2 chip version.

Apple didn't provide details on the performance improvements, but stated that the new Vision Pro glasses allow for 3 hours of continuous video viewing, compared to 2.5 hours in the previous version.
Apple also introduced a new band for the Vision Pro, called the Dual Knit Band, with small, medium, and large size options.
Apple states that the Dual Knit Band is designed to enhance comfort, balance, and stability when using the Vision Pro for extended periods. The band features a knob for easy adjustment to fit the wearer's head size.
Users can purchase this strap separately for $99, and it can be used with older generation Vision Pro models as well.

The new Vision Pro is available for pre-order starting today and will officially go on sale on October 22nd. The product will have a starting price of $3,499 for the 256GB storage option and a maximum price of $3,899 for the 1TB storage option.
