Burnley are one of the two teams relegated early this season, and have absolutely no motivation to play anymore. Nevertheless, manager Mikel Arteta is still being very cautious at Arsenal's home ground.
The Spanish strategist surprisingly fielded Kai Havertz as the central striker in this match, instead of his main goalscorer Viktor Gyokeres.
Arsenal did not play an all-out attacking game against an opponent far inferior in strength, but instead opted for a possession-based style of play and sought opportunities from set pieces.
In the 37th minute, Arsenal took the lead with a move that has been all too familiar to them this season – a corner kick.
Saka delivered a perfectly placed cross for Havertz to head home from close range, giving Burnley goalkeeper Max Weiss no chance to save it.
After this goal, Arsenal continued to maintain a slow-paced, ball-controlling style of play, limiting Burnley's attacking capabilities.
Conversely, the visiting team was simply too weak. Against Arsenal's meticulous style of play, Burnley barely managed a single noteworthy attack.
The match dragged on in a boring manner, much to the amusement of neutral fans. But manager Mikel Arteta continued to demonstrate the effectiveness of his "sleep-inducing" style of play.
Arsenal made no mistakes for the remainder of the match, nor did Burnley show any signs of threat. Ultimately, Arsenal won 1-0.
This victory puts Arsenal one step closer to winning the Premier League title. They now have 82 points, 5 points more than their closest pursuer, Man City, who have yet to play their 37th match.
If Man City drop points against Bournemouth early tomorrow morning, Arsenal will officially be crowned champions one matchday early. If Man City win, the gap will be reduced to just two points, and the race will be exciting until the very last matchday.
