Atletico Madrid changes ownership. |
On the afternoon of November 11th, an official announcement on Atletico's website stated that Apollo had become the club's largest shareholder through a significant investment. However, this deal will only be finalized within the next 3 to 6 months, meaning they do not yet officially have majority control of the La Liga club.
Under the agreement, existing shareholders, including Wanda, Quantum Pacific, and Ares, will continue to hold shareholder positions, but their shareholdings will decrease monthly.
This ensures stability in the club's ownership structure while paving the way for a new development strategy under Apollo's leadership. The deal is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2026.
One notable point is that Apollo expressed respect for Atletico Madrid's current leadership. Miguel Angel Gil will continue as CEO, while Enrique Cerezo will retain his role as President.
Apollo Global Management, one of the world's leading investment funds with hundreds of billions of dollars in assets under management, has committed to supporting the long-term development of Atletico Madrid.
