Ba Dinh awakens its tourism potential.

Once a land steeped in the heroic spirit of the historic Ba Dinh Uprising, Ba Dinh commune is undergoing a powerful transformation. With new thinking and innovative approaches, the local Party committee, government, and people are gradually unlocking their potential and are determined to make the "non-polluting industry" (tourism) a pillar of sustainable economic development.

Ba Dinh awakens its tourism potential.

The Tu Thuc Cave National Scenic Site in Ba Dinh commune has been invested in and renovated, attracting a large number of tourists.

Visiting Ba Dinh commune these days, one can easily feel the new vitality permeating every house and street. Besides the lush green rice fields stretching as far as the eye can see, Ba Dinh commune also possesses an invaluable "treasure": the Ba Dinh National Historical Site. This is not only a place that preserves the spirit of the anti-French uprising of the late 19th century, but also a spiritual anchor for the local government and people to build a proud brand of historical tourism .

Along with that historical relic, Ba Dinh also boasts Tu Thuc Cave – a magnificent national-level scenic spot, captivating hearts with the legend of the love between Tu Thuc and Giang Huong, associated with folk beliefs and unique natural artistic values. This is a spiritual and ecological destination with great potential, which could become a center attracting tourists on their journey to explore the northern part of Thanh Hoa province. Last January, the People's Committee of Ba Dinh commune solemnly organized the Tu Thuc Festival, attracting the participation of a large number of local people and tens of thousands of tourists. Ms. Duong Thanh Huyen, a local resident, said: “Through the solemn organization of the Tu Thuc Festival with many cultural and artistic activities, the cultural values and historical traditions of the locality have been widely introduced and promoted both within and outside the province. This has attracted a large number of tourists to visit, helping to stimulate service activities and increase income for local people.”

Besides national historical sites and scenic spots, Ba Dinh commune also possesses 6 provincial-level historical sites, such as the tomb and temple of Trinh Minh, the memorial stele of female general Le Thi Hoa, Tuan Dao communal house, Nguyen Trong family church, Dong Kinh shrine, Bach A cave... these are precious gems in the local cultural and historical treasure trove.

Each historical site tells a story, a legend, a layer of cultural sediment preserved through generations. When connected within the same new administrative boundary, Ba Dinh commune becomes "a living museum"—a place where particularly attractive heritage-connecting tours can be organized.

Recognizing the great potential for tourism development, the Resolution of the Ba Dinh Commune Party Congress identified "Promoting tourism development and gradually making tourism a key economic sector" as one of the three central tasks that the local Party Committee, government, and people must implement during the 2025-2030 term.

Along with defining its objectives, the commune is gradually building a community tourism model linked to agricultural production, cultural experiences, traditional education, and distinctive local products. Simultaneously, it is researching and developing destinations such as Tu Thuc Cave - Ba Dinh Revolutionary Historical Site - Bach A Cave - Le Thi Hoa Temple into a continuous ecological, historical, and spiritual tourism route, opening up avenues for green tourism, educational tourism, and weekend tourism.

Ba Dinh commune, with its vast new space and diverse historical relics and natural landscapes rich in cultural value, has the conditions for systematic, scientific, and long-term tourism planning. Ms. Nguyen Thi Hien, Deputy Head of the Culture and Social Affairs Department of the Ba Dinh Commune People's Committee, stated: "With the orientation of developing tourism into a key economic sector, Ba Dinh commune not only aims to increase the number of visitors but also a higher goal: to ensure that every resident of Ba Dinh can live well on this heritage land. Therefore, tourism development is always linked to the task of building new rural areas, gradually mobilizing the participation of the people to build a bright, green, clean, and beautiful environment and promoting the destinations and unique cultural values of the locality.”

In reality, Ba Dinh commune has great tourism development potential, but currently, its transportation infrastructure and tourism services do not meet the requirements, and tourist attractions have not been invested in to a commensurate level. At the same time, the community's awareness of tourism remains limited. Mr. Mai Xuan Binh, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ba Dinh commune, said: "In order to effectively exploit the potential and make tourism an important economic sector, the People's Committee of Ba Dinh commune hopes that all levels and sectors will pay attention to supporting infrastructure, policies, and human resource training for tourism development. Simultaneously, we need support in promoting and developing unique tourism products to attract businesses to invest in tourism. Along with that, we need attention to creating conditions for the locality to restore and preserve historical and cultural relics; develop regional tourism, connect with neighboring tourist destinations to form tours and routes, and participate in provincial tourism programs."

Today, Ba Dinh commune is not just a place mentioned in historical records, but is striving to become a "green, sustainable, and culturally rich" destination. With close guidance and support from all levels of government, it is believed that tourism will soon become the main driving force, propelling the economy of Ba Dinh commune to new heights, befitting its status as a heroic land.
