In a statement, the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces said that at 4:23 a.m. on March 24, one of the cruise missiles previously launched by a Russian long-range aircraft aimed at targets in Western Ukraine that violated Polish airspace.
This missile entered Polish airspace near the town of Oserdow in the Lubin Voivodeship region for 39 seconds. The missile's entire journey in Polish airspace was recorded by Warsaw's military radar system.
Director of the Polish National Security Department Jacek Siewiera reported the incident to Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosinak-Kamysz at 5:XNUMX a.m. the same day.
Poland also notified allies in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) about the incident, and deployed necessary measures to ensure airspace safety, including air force warnings, especially in Southeast Poland.
