Mother gives birth to 6 children in 10 minutes

Brazil A woman gave birth to six babies in 10 minutes by caesarean section, a rare event that occurs in one in 4.7 billion births.

The mother, Quezia Romualdo, living in Brazil, discovered she was pregnant with 6 children in early April. Before that, the couple already had a 5-year-old daughter.

Upon hearing the news, the couple decided to renovate their home in Colatina to welcome the children. However, the pregnancy was difficult, and Quezia had surgery to stitch her uterus in early September, helping to prevent premature birth.

On October 3, she gave birth by cesarean section at a hospital in Colatina. The surgical team included 32 medical professionals including doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, nurses, anesthesiologists and pediatricians.

Just 10 minutes later, six healthy babies were born at 27 weeks. One was so small that it could fit in the doctor's palm and had difficulty breathing.

The surgical team also said that the remaining 5 children were breathing slowly, but stabilized quickly after being intubated. The family decided to name the 6 children Theo, Matteu, Lucca, Henry, Eloa and Mayte.

Sextuplets are extremely rare in the world , with a rate of one in 4.7 billion births. Previously, in 1983, Liverpool Hospital, England, recorded a case of sextuplets, weighing only about 1 kg each.

The Walton sisters, Sarah, Hannah, Ruth, Luci, Kate and Jennie, used 11,000 diapers a year after they were born on November 18. They were kept in the neonatal intensive care unit for about six weeks before being discharged.
