In Hanoi, while cheering as they watched the lion dance being performed during the Mid-Autumn Festival, three children in Van Binh commune, Thuong Tin district, were unexpectedly burned by a fire that suddenly broke out on the evening of September 29th.
On the Mid-Autumn Festival night, Van Binh commune organized a festive celebration for children. A bonfire was lit in the middle of the communal courtyard. After a lively lion dance, three lion heads were thrown into the fire amidst the cheers of hundreds of young people and children standing around.

Several bottles of kerosene were thrown into the fire to make it burn brighter. Suddenly, one bottle was thrown in and bounced away, causing the fire to spread to the children standing about 3-5 meters away.
At noon on September 30, leaders of the Thuong Tin District People's Committee announced that three children aged 10-12 who suffered burns had been taken to the National Burn Hospital.
Burning lion heads during the Mid-Autumn Festival is a tradition of the people of Van Binh commune.
