According to British media, Bale's investment group wanted to buy the club from Vincent Tan last month. However, the initial offer was rejected. Nevertheless, sources indicate Bale is determined to make the deal happen, especially given Cardiff's need for a boost after being relegated from the Championship.
Although he never played for Cardiff, Bale has a strong connection to the club, having been born in the Welsh capital. Furthermore, his uncle, Chris Pike, played for Cardiff as a forward from 1989 to 1993.
Bale was previously rumored to be investing in Plymouth Argyle, but now wants to return to his homeland. Bale's career has reached its peak with Southampton, Tottenham, Real Madrid, and LAFC. On the international stage, he led Wales to their first World Cup in 64 years, along with two European Championships, most notably reaching the semi-finals of Euro 2016.
With 111 appearances for the national team and 41 goals, Bale currently holds the record for most appearances and goals in Welsh history. He was in negotiations with Cardiff in 2022 after leaving Real Madrid, but later chose to join LAFC in the US before officially retiring in January 2023.
News of Bale potentially investing in Cardiff emerged just weeks after his former Tottenham and Real Madrid teammate, Luka Modric, became a co-owner of Swansea City, Cardiff's rivals.
If the deal goes through, Bale would bring about a revival not only for Cardiff City, but also for Welsh football at the club level.
