Da Nang tourism industry holds emergency meeting.

Da Nang's tourism industry faces a major challenge: rising input costs must be accompanied by the need to maintain reasonable prices to avoid diminishing the destination's attractiveness.

On March 20th, the Da Nang Tourism Association held an emergency meeting to address the widespread impact of the Middle East conflict – a factor driving up global fuel prices sharply, directly putting pressure on transportation costs and tour prices.

Mr. Cao Tri Dung, Chairman of the Da Nang Tourism Association, believes this is a time when the tourism industry needs to demonstrate a spirit of sharing and partnership with tourists and the market.

According to Mr. Dung, rising fuel prices are directly impacting airfares, road transport costs, and package tour prices. "Without timely solutions, a significant drop in tourist numbers, especially international tourists, is entirely possible during the upcoming peak season," Mr. Dung expressed his concern.

In light of this situation, the association encourages travel businesses to redesign their products to be more flexible, shorten travel time, optimize costs, while still ensuring a quality experience.

On the service supply side, hotels, restaurants, transportation companies, and attractions are urged to adjust prices reasonably, create attractive combo packages, and share profits to retain tourists. The overall goal is to limit sudden price increases and maintain Da Nang's image as a friendly, sharing, and mutually beneficial destination.

The Da Nang Tourism Association also recommended that management agencies expand support policies for airlines and implement destination stimulus programs in a coordinated manner. Meanwhile, airlines were proposed not only to increase flights to key markets but also to cooperate with tourism businesses to develop joint products, contributing to cost control and creating more competitive service packages.

"Da Nang's choice is not to raise prices, but to increase linkages, share benefits, and restructure the market. Maintaining reasonable prices, sustaining the flow of tourists, and strengthening tourist confidence are considered key to the city's tourism industry continuing to hold its position as one of the leading destinations in the region," the association leader shared.

In addition to focusing on short-term solutions, Da Nang's tourism industry will also implement stimulus programs, prioritizing the domestic market and nearby markets such as Southeast Asia and Northeast Asia – markets less affected by the high cost of long-haul flights.

This coming April, the Vietnam International Tourism Fair in Hanoi is seen as an important opportunity for Da Nang to introduce summer promotional packages, connect with the market, and promote tourism recovery.

In particular, the city will promote tourism in Laos to effectively exploit the overland tourist market through the East-West Economic Corridor. This is considered a strategic direction in the context of rising airfare costs, helping to diversify tourist sources and reduce dependence on distant markets.
