This is a practical activity that concretizes the model of "Accompanying fishermen in staying at sea," directed by the Ho Chi Minh City Border Guard Command and implemented by the Can Thanh Border Guard Station.
Lieutenant Colonel Phan Huan, Political Officer of Can Thanh Border Guard Station, shared: “This model started being implemented in 2022. The station regularly sends officers and soldiers to closely monitor the area, coordinate with local departments and agencies to understand and identify families in difficult circumstances who need support, and then mobilize benefactors and philanthropists to join hands in helping and accompanying fishermen in their livelihoods. To date, the station has mobilized support for fishermen with many fishing nets, life jackets, essential goods, and organized medical examinations and healthcare for those who are sick; and awarded scholarships to support poor students in the area to continue their education.”

Every year, in response to President Ho Chi Minh's "Call for Patriotic Emulation" and to promote the study and emulation of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, ethics, and style, the Border Guard Force of the city has developed and implemented many meaningful models in mobilizing the masses, assisting the people, and maintaining security and order. Subordinate units also propose and implement their own models tailored to their specific tasks and geographical areas.
Typical examples include the "Community Cultural Center" model, which contributes to traditional education, ideological guidance, and raising awareness among the people of Thanh An island commune, Can Gio district; preserving the traditional cultural values of the homeland, country, and people of Vietnam; and strengthening and promoting the relationship between the military and the people. The "Youth Club for Protecting Border, Sea, and Island Sovereignty " model teaches martial arts and physical training to local youth; and promotes awareness and responsibility in protecting sovereignty. The "Savings Box for the Poor" model mobilizes voluntary contributions from officers and soldiers to help people in difficult circumstances, while also educating them on the virtue of saving as taught by President Ho Chi Minh.
In addition, the city's Border Guard Command has effectively implemented various models: "Thanh An Food and Entertainment Area"; "Community Swimming and Drowning Prevention Class" (recognized as a city-level youth project in 2023); "Charity Class"; "Enhancing English Class"; "Helping Children Go to School - Children Adopted by Border Guard Posts"...
Colonel Lam Van Huy, Head of Political Affairs of the Ho Chi Minh City Border Guard Command, emphasized: “These models are regularly maintained and effectively implemented in practice. With our dedication and responsibility, the city's Border Guard Command continues to thoroughly understand and effectively implement the "Call for Patriotic Emulation" through concrete actions and deeds, creating comprehensive and solid changes in agencies and units, contributing to the successful completion of all tasks.”
