In Lam Dong : On the morning of September 18, Da Lat Forest Protection Department (Xuan Huong Ward - Da Lat, Lam Dong) received 1 Javan Pangolin ( scientific name: Manis javanica) voluntarily handed over by a local resident after discovering this individual crawling into his yard on the night of September 17.
Specifically, the Javan Pangolin was handed over to the Forest Rangers in a healthy, living condition, weighing 3kg. According to Mr. Ho Hoang Anh Kha (residing on Van Hanh Street, Lam Vien Ward - Da Lat), at around 11:30 p.m. on September 17, when he returned home, he discovered a stray animal on the alley in front of his house. Although he turned on the light, the animal did not run away but crawled into the yard. After that, Mr. Kha temporarily kept the animal in his house until dawn to report to the authorities. On the morning of September 18, Mr. Kha and his younger brother, Ho Hoang Anh Khoa, brought the animal to Da Lat Forest Rangers to hand over to the authorities.
After receiving the animal, Da Lat Forest Protection Department released the pangolin into the care and nurturing area, awaiting processing according to regulations. According to the leader of Da Lat Forest Protection Department, in the long term, the unit will prepare the necessary documents and procedures to transfer the Javan pangolin to Cat Tien National Park to raise and preserve the animal.
The Javan pangolin is an animal listed in the Vietnam Red Book, belonging to group IB according to Decree 32/2006/ND-CP of the Government on the management of endangered, precious and rare forest plants and animals. All acts of captivity and commercial trade are strictly prohibited.
In Phu Tho : Carrying out the task of ensuring security and order associated with environmental protection, recently, Van Ban Commune Police, Phu Tho Province coordinated with Cam Khe Forest Protection Department and the Economic Department of the Commune People's Committee to inspect and confiscate 30 nets and many tools for catching wild birds from 30 households in the area.
Through inspection, the authorities discovered that people had arbitrarily stretched nets and used loudspeakers to emit bird sounds to lure and capture wild birds. This is an act strictly prohibited by law, not only reducing the natural bird population, seriously affecting biodiversity but also causing ecological imbalance, increasing the risk of pests and diseases that harm crops because birds are important natural enemies. Notably, the use of loudspeakers imitating bird sounds day and night also creates loud noise, causing sound pollution, directly affecting people's lives, and disturbing the security and order of the village.
Through this activity, Van Ban Commune Police and functional units have propagated and mobilized people to raise awareness of law compliance, actively participate in protecting the natural environment and preserving the ecosystem.
