
According to the decision, the list of strategic technologies comprises 10 groups of strategic technologies covering many fields, including: digital technology (artificial intelligence - AI), big data, digital mirroring, cloud computing, edge computing, the Internet of Things and blockchain); next-generation mobile network technology; robotics and automation technology; advanced biotechnology and biomedical technology; advanced energy and materials technology; semiconductor chip technology; cybersecurity and quantum technology; marine, ocean and subsurface technology; aerospace technology; high-speed rail and urban rail technology.
The decision also listed 30 strategic technology products divided into two groups.
Group 1: Strategic technology products that already have a market and can create a significant and direct impact on economic development, including products such as large-scale Vietnamese language models, virtual assistants and specialized AI; AI cameras for edge processing; 5G/5G-Advanced mobile network devices and systems; autonomous mobile robots and industrial robots; next-generation vaccines for humans; cell therapies (stem cells, immune cells) for humans…
Group 2: This group includes technology products that create new growth drivers, foundational technologies for the future, and technologies that ensure self-reliance in the fields of security and defense, including products such as specialized chips; systems for deep extraction, processing, and deep-processed products from minerals, oil, gas, and rare earth elements; small modular nuclear reactors (SMRs); high-speed rail construction projects, etc.
Based on the socio-economic development situation in each period, the Ministry of Science and Technology will preside over and coordinate with relevant ministries and ministerial-level agencies to periodically review and evaluate, and submit to the Prime Minister for updating and promulgating decisions on the list of strategic technologies and the list of strategic technology products.
The decision takes effect from July 1st.
