Attending the opening ceremony were Ms. Ha Thi Nga, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and Head of the Steering Committee for the 6th Phu Dong Sports Festival; representatives from the Ministry of Education and Training ; leaders of departments, agencies, organizations, districts, and cities; delegations of athletes; and a large number of people from various ethnic groups in Lao Cai province.
A spectacular artistic performance, themed "The youthful spirit of Phu Dong on the Hoang Lien mountain range," featuring over 1200 students from primary, secondary, and high schools in Lao Cai city, concluded the opening ceremony of the 6th Lao Cai Provincial Phu Dong Sports Festival in 2012.
Immediately after the opening ceremony, the competitions commenced in a fiercely competitive atmosphere, while still maintaining the beautiful spirit of school sports . The first medal winners were: Cao Bá Thành (Lao Cai No. 1 High School – Gold Medal in Men's High Jump); Nguyễn Thị Nghinh (Van Ban No. 1 High School – Gold Medal in Women's High Jump); Hồ Mạnh Hùng (Specialized High School – Silver Medal in Men's High Jump); Khuất Nhật Linh (Lao Cai No. 1 High School – Silver Medal in Women's High Jump); Đinh Thế Hiếu (Specialized High School – Bronze Medal in Men's High Jump); Phạm Hồng Tuyến (Muong Khuong No. 2 High School – Bronze Medal in Women's High Jump).
