(VLO) Tiger shrimp prices drop by 50,000-70,000 VND/kg; Coconut growers rejoice at rising prices; Vietnamese longan sells for 230,000 VND/kg in Thailand… These are some of the notable market news on August 26th.

Rice prices in the Mekong Delta region remain stable.

In An Giang , IR 504 rice is priced at 7,750-7,900 VND/kg; OM 5451 rice remains around 7,750-8,000 VND/kg; OM 18 rice is priced at 7,800-8,200 VND/kg; Nang Hoa 9 rice is priced at 7,800-8,200 VND/kg; Nang Nhen (dried) rice is at 15,000 VND/kg; Dai Thom 8 and Nhat rice remain stable at 7,800-8,000 VND/kg.

*Prawn prices have decreased by 50,000-70,000 VND/kg

Farmers in Kien Giang province are in the peak shrimp harvesting season, but selling prices have dropped sharply compared to the first months of 2023.

Accordingly, tiger prawns (30 prawns/kg) are priced at 145,000-150,000 VND/kg, a decrease of 60,000-70,000 VND/kg; prawns larger than 30 prawns/kg are priced at 110,000-120,000 VND/kg, a decrease of 50,000-60,000 VND/kg… The low prawn prices are due to the impact of the global economic downturn and high inflation in many countries…

*Prices rise, coconut farmers rejoice.

Coconut farmers in Ben Tre province are delighted as the price of dried coconuts has recently increased again. Currently, farmers in the province are selling dried coconuts at the farm to traders at 45,000-60,000 VND per dozen; dried coconuts are being purchased by businesses and coconut processing facilities at the factory at 65,000-70,000 VND per dozen.

The price of many types of fresh coconuts has also increased by about 5,000 VND/dozen compared to last month, selling in bulk to traders and purchasing centers at 45,000-55,000 VND/dozen.

*Vietnamese longan is priced at 230,000 VND/kg in Thailand.

Vietnamese longan, certified under GlobalGAP standards, is currently being sold for 230,000 VND/kg at Centralworld Shopping Center in Bangkok, Thailand.

This is the result of many efforts by Central Retail Group and its partners in promoting the export of Vietnamese longan to the Thai market through modern retail channels.

Approximately over 2 tons of longan from the Mekong Delta region are expected to be sold through Central Retail Thailand's Tops retail system during this period.

*Luxury brands will be allowed to offer 100% discounts.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade has just issued a plan to organize a branded goods promotion event in the city in 2023. The event, named "Flash Sale Holiday," will take place from September 8-10 at the Tan Son Nhat Pavilion Hotel (Phu Nhuan District).

Accordingly, all participating businesses are required to have promotional programs and are allowed to apply a maximum limit of up to 100% on the value of promotional goods and services.
