On the evening of June 27th, the Ho Chi Minh City Museum, in collaboration with other organizations, held the opening ceremony of the Heritage Connection Week , one of the activities celebrating the 50th anniversary of the official renaming of Saigon - Gia Dinh City after President Ho Chi Minh .
The Heritage Connection Week, taking place from June 27th to July 5th, offers a series of cultural experiences at night, contributing to spreading the value of Vietnamese heritage to a wide audience of people and tourists, both domestic and international.
Ms. Doan Thi Trang, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Museum, said that the highlight of the program is the "Heritage Connecting the Quintessence" art program from 7 PM to 9 PM every day.
Visiting the museum in the evening, tourists can enjoy traditional art forms such as đờn ca tài tử (traditional Southern Vietnamese folk music) and hát bội (classical Vietnamese opera); admire fashion shows featuring áo bà ba (traditional Vietnamese blouse) and wedding ao dai (traditional Vietnamese dress) designed by Viet Hung. In addition, there is the múa bóng rỗi dance – a characteristic ritual dance and song of Southern Vietnam, often performed at festivals in temples and shrines.
Director Binh Hung shared with Tuoi Tre Online that The program's concept stems from a desire to connect heritage journeys, bringing distinctive cultural forms of Southern Vietnam such as đờn ca tài tử (traditional Southern Vietnamese folk music), hát bội (classical opera), and múa bóng rỗi (shadow puppetry) closer to the public, especially the younger generation.
"We chose the theme 'Heritage Connecting Excellence' to tell the story of the cultural flow that is always present in a dynamic, modern city. The program also boldly incorporates experimental elements, utilizing museum space to create new experiences, helping visitors perceive heritage through multiple senses," director Binh Hung added.

"The program recreates the flow of Southern cultural heritage, helping viewers better appreciate the unique cultural values of Ho Chi Minh City through various art forms. In the future, we will continue to collaborate in developing regular performance programs, contributing to attracting locals and especially international tourists to the museum," said Mr. Hoang Tan.
Beyond simply enjoying the art, visitors also have the opportunity to directly experience traditional crafts such as pottery decorating and conical hat painting under the guidance of artisans. These activities promise to provide a relaxing and creative atmosphere, helping the public access heritage in a more intimate way.
Within the framework of Heritage Connection Week , the Ho Chi Minh City Museum also organized an exhibition of images and artifacts introducing the more than 300-year journey of Ho Chi Minh City's formation and development, helping visitors learn about the history, culture, economy , and social life of the city through each period.
In particular, the museum is opening a thematic exhibition titled "Ho Chi Minh City - 50 Years of Honor and Pride in Bearing the Name of Uncle Ho ," showcasing the city's outstanding achievements on its journey of construction, development, and integration.
