Ter Stegen is angry at the way Barcelona have treated him.

According to Mundo Deportivo , Barcelona planned to send Ter Stegen's official medical report to La Liga, confirming that the player's expected length of stay was four months. However, the goalkeeper refused to sign the form allowing Barcelona to send the medical report to La Liga. Without Ter Stegen's consent, Barca's new player registration process has been completely stalled.

Barcelona had previously hoped that La Liga would allow the club to use 80% of Ter Stegen's salary to sign a new player, a move that was used in the case of Andreas Christensen's injury to sign Dani Olmo last season. This only happened when the medical report clearly stated that Ter Stegen would be out for four months.

The player's refusal to sign Barcelona's medical report has left things at a standstill. To resolve the situation, the club's legal team will sue Ter Stegen. The German goalkeeper is not sitting still either. He believes that sending the medical report without his consent is a violation of his privacy.

However, Barcelona argued that this was a mandatory requirement to comply with La Liga regulations, and that Ter Stegen's refusal to sign was causing financial and sporting damage to the club.

Ter Stegen underwent back surgery in Bordeaux (France) at the end of July. Barca expected the player to be out for 4 months. However, the player himself suddenly announced that he would only be out for 3 months, putting Barca in a difficult position.

Marca commented that Ter Stegen deliberately declared the injury recovery time to be three months to prevent Barcelona from using La Liga's salary regulations, in order to make it difficult to register rookie goalkeeper Joan Garcia.
