Barcelona have finalized a contract extension with Fermin Lopez until the summer of 2031, a move that demonstrates the club's absolute confidence in the midfielder who came through the La Masia academy.

The 22-year-old player signed a contract until 2029 in October 2024. However, after just over a year, those terms quickly became unsuitable for the young talent's rate of development.

This season, Fermin has scored 10 goals and provided 10 assists in all competitions, becoming one of the midfielders with the most direct goal contributions in the team. He and Yamal are also among the top four players with more than 10 goals and assists in European competitions.

According to the newly reached agreement, Fermin's contract has been extended by two years, and his salary has increased by approximately 50% compared to his current salary. In addition, his release clause has been raised from 500 million euros to 1 billion euros.

Last summer, Chelsea approached Fermin with a €40 million offer. Barcelona then stated they would only consider selling if the player voluntarily requested a departure, and valued him at no less than €90 million. Fermin had no intention of leaving Camp Nou, and the deal quickly fell through.
